Chasing Ghosts
I went up Mt Disappointment today to chase some more ghosts, there are old gold workings up there.
A few weeks ago I did a Google Earth of the area to check it out and saw what looked like old house foundations, they were only visible on shots after the fire, you couldnt see them prior.
Brilliant I thought, it may have been covered for ages with undergrowth, now I can see it.
Set the coords and set out, all I had to cover was 400M from the yoot, its hellishly steep country, not to worry Ive got all day.
Slipped and slid down the loose shaley hillside. every effort was blocked by fallen trees and new undergrowth, bugger, I gave up after 2 hours.
Not to worry, Ill have another go some other day.
So I get home and thought Id check it out on Near Maps to see if there is a better way in, sure enough there it is on Near Maps too.
Zoom in, if youve used Near Maps you will appreciate that the resolution is far superior then that of Google.
Zoom some more, wait a minute..... owwh sh1t, its not house foundations, its a whoppin big rock.....
