Re: Oziexplorer maps.
G'day Brickie, I use the Vicmap 2005 most of the time for the bush, I have many of series of maps for Ozi, for town use vicmap is no good but spatial vision is the bees knees. The Hema series of maps is very good also, I have scanned alot of my own paper maps into the program as well. If you get serious about that later on I can easily help you with that too. There are not too many maps that are not Ozi compatible, in fact I've never come across any yet.
I hope that answers your question, if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask, I might be able to do some screen shots of an area you are familiar with to give you a better Idea too.

Re: Oziexplorer maps.
G'day Brickie
250k natmap covers all of Aus in topo. Have a look at this link
https://www.ga.gov.au/products/servlet/controller?event=GEOCAT_DETAILS&catno=65047
You can get topo maps to suit Ozie in 25k 50k and 100k also
Also you will need some geo maps in 100k Just google Topo maps or geo maps for oziexplorer and there are plenty to chose from.
You can download plenty of maps in JPEG format and convert them and calibrate them in Ozie and these also work very well and only cost your time to do it.
cheers dave

Re: Oziexplorer maps.
That's a good review that GoldstalkerGPX has done on the Oziexplorer program, and it is a very usefull tool, and used in conjunction with google earth, and depending what state your detecting in, say Tengraph for WA or Geo vic if detecting in Vic, etc some very handy info can be had.

Re: Oziexplorer maps.
Thanks Dave, Brickie make sure you read the review there is some info that you may gain by reading that, here are some screen shots of maps from the Chewton area.....
The mosaic 250k map
The VicMap 2005
The 100k fire map
The 25k fire map
The vgpsa map
The spatialvision map
A scanned map
There is no end really to the maps that you can add to Ozi, the info that can be added to it from Geovic etc is unlimited really, with the use of this info on the laptop or car gps puts you 99% of the time onto the right reef or expired lease that you want to be on, no more "I think I am in the right spot"

Re: Oziexplorer maps.
There are these maps from the Vic government that are free, how do you get them to work with Ozi?

Re: Oziexplorer maps.
Brickie, other than calibrating each map they usually have calibration data to go along with each map so that they are automatically calibrated with ozi. (I'll send you a PM)

Re: Oziexplorer maps.
Hi david, yes you did give me a couple of those maps, I have been lucky enough to recieve a few sets from all over the country for free, I have not made them up for him yet but will on my days off, I am slightly offended that you would think that I would sell them to a member requesting help.

Agreed, Not picking and appreciated the help that you gave me and I enjoy to help others, the vicmap series didn't come from you and I only had a limited set of spatial vision but now have the full set.

TheHOward is now very handy at using Oziexplorer and is a great learner, even with the more technical side of things taught via email between us, she bought the whole lot of maps from me aswell.
