Two Way Radios
Looking for some new 2 ways, the last pair have given up the ghost(i dont trust them is more like it).
Plenty out there but im after some which use AA batteries rather than a block type battery.
I want the freedom of being able to swap batteries out in the field, and besides i have all theses AA rechargables sitting around doing nothing.
Has anyone brought some recently which use AA and were they OK.
Or any other sugestions are welcome.
Cheers

Re: Two Way Radios
John, that Uniden one I have takes AA's. Off hand I'm not sure of the model number but I'll let you know.
I have to ask why you need two ways anyway...as I can hear you from 1 klm away always talking to yourself, if I have a problem you'll hear me scream and you told me the reason you bought your misses a detector was so hopefully you can lose her out bush somewhere
Edit: Just checked John and it's a Uniden UHO65SX

i don`t know a lot about hand helds but these seem to work ok. the other half and i were 1-1½k apart with a couple of low hills between us in a heavily treed area and we could still hear each other

As Tuna has said Uniden are very good.Google image search Uniden Handheld Radios for details. They run on three aaa batteries and are very sturdy just clip them on your harness. We have had a set for ten years and there still good.We use rechargable batteries in them.
Cheers Dig

We have these Uniden 2 watt UHF's, 3xAA rechargable NiMH in each unit, been good so far, about 2 years old. They came in a twin pack with battries and charging dock.

Re: Two Way Radios
Thks GoldstalkerGPX this bloke sells on Ebay i noticed, but is very slightly cheaper direct (covers Ebay fees i guess).
I am now looking at either the Uniden UH720SX Twin Pack or the GME TX670 2 WATT UHF TWIN PACK has anyone ever used the GME brand before i seem to recall the scouts use GME branded ones (well my daughters troop do anyway).
Am leaning towards the Uniden ones but there is quite a price diff between both would this be a reflextion on quality build??? prehaps???
Cheers

Re: Two Way Radios
G'day john, I first found him on ebay and have dealt direct ever since, (I put another order in last night) he is cheaper direct and would assume because of the fees. All my uhf's, handheld and in-car are uniden. I have always gone with uniden as they seem to be reliable.
Cheers, Adrian

Re: Two Way Radios
Hi John
http://www.andrewscom.com.au/site-section-02.htm
Andrews communications stock a lot of the GME stuff and are very competative price wise. I've dealt with them for years with a lot of astronomy stuff and have always found them great to deal with.
