Has anyone been to one of these weekends and is it worth going to or is it just a over commercialised thing now for the town???? Any genuine feed back appreciated with no smart arse comments please!!!

G'day Explorer,

Yes I have been to a few of them and enjoyed them very much. It is a good couple of days, you will meet many an experienced prospector there and have lots of good yarns. A few people have even found gold there too!

I hope to get there this year but have a wedding to go to on the saturday Sad but will see if I can make it to the sunday session.

Cheers Mick

That's correct Explorer. Just make sure you take a VLF detector as there is plenty of very close competition.
It's a full on weekend and well worth the effort.

hi
yep the weekend 2008 was a stinking hot one alright,..i think the problem this year will be mozzies,
i was in wedderburn last weekend and they were the worst i can remember.
you could hardly detect cause of them, even with gallons of repellant on.
we even tried surface spray (not healthy i know) it slowed them a little, but still bad.
and the spiders between the trees was unbelievable (orb spiders i think)

so if anyone's planning to go on the labor day weekend, take heaps of repellant, and differant
types of repellant as they seemed to get use to one type very quickly.
i'm even considering getting a couple of those mozzie proof shirts, they are pretty expensive but i think
they will be worth it.
cheers

Yeah FJ, they are everywhere and they're that big they should file a flight plan.
What's this about a mozzie shirt? Please explain (said the fish and chip shop owner to everyone)

hi robert
there is a mozzie shirt you can get from some dispoal shops and some k-marts
my mate seen them in our k-mart but when i went there they were out of stock
so i can't check and tell you the excact name but i think they were a part of the
outdoor work clothing range.
not sure how they work but are suppose to be cool to work in and mozzies can't bite thru them
i will ask my mate what brand it was and get back to you on sunday night or monday
cheers

p.s....i think he said they were $60 each

On the Saturday night their will be a bunch of young busty girls in bikini's doing the Pussy Dance for the tired and weiry prospectors the girls are known as the ( Gold Diggers ). Free back massages and insect repellant rubs by ladies for the men.

Plus the town of Wedderburn has the ( Ye old wenching night) from 9pm to 12midnight on Saturday night when prospectors and metal detectorists can have their wanton ways with any female in the town and not get into trouble.

God i love wenching night.

See you all at WEDDERBURN METAL DETECTOR JAMBOREE and also at wenching night. Twisted Evil

I have a couple of those Mossy shirts - nice and cool to wear. They seem to work and like fencejumper states the mossies can't bite through.

They have repellent embedded into the cloth but I understand the repellent will disappear after around 30 washes.
