Coiltek 24x12 UFO mono 'VS' Coiltek 14x9 mono - comparison pics
Received this today from a member off this site. can't wait to test it out in the field.
Anyway. thought i would post an image up so people can get an idea how big this is compared to a 14x9" coil.
Enjoy.

great coil, I run a 24by12 UFO on my 3500, bungie cord is needed not so much for the weight as it is not heavy but for the size of it and of course lots of low grass is an advantage , which at the moment here in SE Qld is hard to come by....overall small nuggets of 0.6 grams down to 3" were no problems in medium ground , in heavy ground it was a bit harder to keep a smooth steady threshold.
good luck....
cheers SS

Hi Guys, I love my 24" X 12" UFO coil. I use it as a patch finder & then go back over the same ground with different size coils to get all I can off it. I got a pic here of a .44 gram piece of gold I found with it last year. I cant remember the depth but you can see the size of the hole
Close up
I operate a GP 3000 & I am gobsmacked at the small gold this coil finds. I have just got back from detecting in Central Otago & using this coil I got a 1.37 gram, .68, .85, .35, 1.48, 2.00, 1.38, 2.79, .99, & a 1.49.
The .35 grammer is the smallest I have found with it to date.
A few bigger ones
Happy hunting
JW

G'day Maka, I am due down to Central Otago for a detect at the end of the month. Havnt used the minelab up here in my neck of the woods, Coromandal north island. Went for a sluice box on saturday for a bit of colour but nothing to skite about. Was going to go detecting on the sunday with my whites GMT but it rained so gave it a miss. Did find this old timers pick head & also the metal wedge that holds the handle in place on my last detect with the GMT but sadly no gold.
Also found a stamper shoe & 3 live .303 rounds & a rock that nutted off with a positive signal but I couldnt see any gold in it. I have yet to dolly it up & pan it off.
Havnt used the minelab since last down in Otago in february for this lot but didnt use the 24 x 12 ufo this time. Was using a minelab 12 x 15 commandor mono & nugget finder 12 x 7 mono. loved both of them
I think from memory you are running a GP extreme?? I run a GP 3000. With the 24 x 12 UFO I run in deep & sensitive. All metal. Keep the coil very low to the ground & sweep pretty slowly & dig EVERY THING. Also run a signal enhancer. Hope this helps.
I have just got a nugget finder 25" mono & 20" mono that I am keen as to use when I hit Otago. I will be taking the 24 x 12 as well. It gobsmacks me as to the small gold this coil finds for it size.
Good luck out there & happy hunting

Re: Coiltek 24x12 UFO mono 'VS' Coiltek 14x9 mono - comparison pics
Cheers, I cant wait to get it and have a go. It may be too noisy in the ground i want to swing it in, but only time will tell.
I may be asking too much of it, but i am hoping to still get .3 or .4 grammers with it.
Not sure if i need an enhancer, as the extreme loves hot rocks, finds minute charcoal, etc.
I would still love to try one though. I am running the camcorder battery set up with speaker mounted on the control box. So if an enhancer goes inline between the 2.5mm or 6.5mm jacks or whatever size they are i would definately give one a shot. Gimme a yell if you know if its possible on that combo.

Re: Coiltek 24x12 UFO mono 'VS' Coiltek 14x9 mono - comparison pics
Just got back from a weekend out. The weather was terrible, it was windy, pouring down, lightning, and a tad of hail just to cap it off.
Even in the wet ground it was a pleasure to swing in open country. Tested it with about .2 .3 .4 gram bits.
It will find anything over .3 running in sensative, and deep. threshold up just a tad higher than i use for the 5x9 mono.
Threshold had to be really fine tuned to pick up the .3 flat piece..
Providing the .3's are round and not flat it gets them good at an easy 6 inches to 8 inches. But struggles at 1 to 2 inches...
Looks like its going to be my favourite coil for open country and patch finding.. Got my small mono for the clean up, and hopefully everything going ok a new 11 mono ( thanks for the donation 2bit) For thicker scrub.
I was suprised also on the small bits it found including staples, bird/ buckshot, It has a different language to the small coils, but i think its going to easily pay for itself.
Now i just need a dry day and some good gold bearing ground and a strong right arm to swing it..
With the hipstick its a pleasure and balances really well..

Re: Coiltek 24x12 UFO mono 'VS' Coiltek 14x9 mono - comparison pics
G'day Maka, Good one mate. The hip stick is fantastic & I wouldnt be with out my one. Can swing the bigger coils all day with it. Yes the 24 x 12 ufo is a great coil. Good luck in your search & hope you hit some good ground. Thanks for the report & keep them coming. I am down to Central Otago in just over a week for 8 days. My 25" nuggetfinder wont fit in the suit case (flying down) but I am taking a hell of a lot of other coils . The UFO being one of them. Another bonus of its shape is that it does fit in the suitcase
