Hi skysite
Not to much water at Sunny Corner except for the rain, your better off headding up to the Macquarie or Turon rivers if you fancy a pan.

Re: Panning in NSW
Dave,
Closer to Lithgow thats a bit trickey if its gold your after, Diamond Swamp Creek rises at about Meadow Flat around the highway turnoff to Sunny Corner if you follow that south it leads to Solitary Creek which in turn leads to the Fish river. Some of the first reports of gold being found in Aus. came from around this area so like they say you will never know if you don't have a go. There is a good camp at "Flat Rock" on the Fish which is very near that spot which would be worth a try perhaps?
Good Luck, Phill.

Re: Panning in NSW
Dave i live 35 km from sunny corner and detect there alot.
The second best panning spot there is mitchell creek. You go through sunny corner and swing to the left and go 1 km past the Dark corner turn off until the sealed road crosses the creek (dont take the dark corner road north) .
You can follow the creek down through the pines, the crossing is just before the creek on the right for 4wd or just past the creek on the right for 2wd. You will see the diggings everywhere, the gold is in crevices on bedrock (as usual). Plenty of bedrock around, some of the bedrock away from the creek that have been flood scoured have some rich crevices. The creek has diggings on it for a few kms. The two hills ("Big Hill" and "Small Hill")you drive between a km from the creek have mines all over them and any gullies flowing from them to the Mitchell creek catchment have gold if you can get to bedrock. They were logging there recently, don't go on closed for logging roads (big fines) but do go to logged/eroded, dozed areas for a look if the roads are open.
Cheers Tributer
PS the biggest tiger snake i have seen lives on the creek and it has alot of mates.
