Re: gold books
The Gold & Ghosts series is the best. Trouble is they are selling (if you can get them) for their weight in gold.

The Goldfields and Mineral Districts of Victoria by Robert Borough Smyth
The Goldfields and Mineral Districts of Victoria by Robert Borough Smyth
As mentioned elsewhere on this forum, you can purchase this book in a hard cover 1980's reprint (usually over $100) or you can download a 'free' PDF copy from Google books.
It is a bit harder to read, but has historical value.

Gold books
G'Day Stoppsy
Have a look at "The History Of Gold Discovery In Victoria" by James Flett it is very informative.
Also has some maps. The book is very detailed on all the rushes in Vic.
Regards Dave.

Re: gold books
James Flett... i just tracked down one of his books of old pubs in the goldfields. Man was it hard to find. Only found 3 on ebay... 1, the sale was finished and the other 2 wanted over $100 for it! Found one on a collectors book website... its ex-library.
as for maps... anyone know of any for ararat, moonambel, avoca sort of areas? (not the doug stone maps, i have those)

Re: gold books
Hi Guys, Research is the KEY. You can NEVER read too many books to get snipits of info as to locations & what they had/have to offer. Huge life changing things can come from a small thread.
Happy hunting & a happy & prosperous new year to you all.

BS!
Fair dealing allows use of copyright material under certain circumstances only.
For research or study
For review
For reporting.
The word "fair" depends on how the material is being used. If the copyright owner is clearly out-of-pocket from the use of the material, then this might be considered a breach. Copying the book (or part thereoff) for you own use under the ruse of research is plain and simply theft.
