The old guy that has the land pegged is guarding it like u would not believe. He is driving around the land claim day and night now in his old beat up toyota and blue cattle dog with him. Found over 47 ounces in a 2 week period on a patch he was working on recently. U can see why Birdman of WA goes crook on people.

Bet he mentioned under conditions of secrecy to just one person.

No it was just a patch he found on his land which he picked clean. He showed some of the drillers and a geo that was on the land next to him that was owned by a guy called Caruzo from memory... this Caruzo guy was using a big D9 on a area and had a mate slowly detecting as he graded a patch of land.

Curtis Find covers a massive area that's produced many patches over the years, and I have no doubt that it will continue to do so for many more. Seems a bit extreme that someone would spend all their time policing one small patch. BTW, most of the area is under exploratory lease with only a couple of mining/prospecting leases. Hard to police an exploratory when all you need is a Section 20A.

The problem is that some locals want an area all to themselves and try to pull the wool over the eyes of others. Cue locals are some of the worst ratbags imaginable, often grading and bulldozing other's leases when the owners aren't around, and then blame it on outsiders.

Well this guy was policing it and had it fenced off as well and signs saying no detecting current mining lease/ no camping no trespassing no shooting etc etc etc. It must of cost him a packet the put up a barb wire fence around his claim. He is guarding it for a reason and guarding it well.
