Thanks for the info Kidu,
Contacted the link to the US supplier and they will not send these SPOT devices to Australia because they "are not authorised to sell to the Australian market".
They sent me a link for the Australian SPOT suppliers and none of them are offering the $99 deal here in Australia. The best they are doing (as far as I can tell) is $227. I even spoke to a couple of dealers and they told me they were not part of the $99 promotion si unable to do it here for that price.
Bloody annoying or what, yet again we have to pay top dollar
Cheers

Re: good price for epirb/plb
Dont trust any of them, I got a Thureya satphone (prepaid from the US) top up on line.
Sends emails, emergency calls , sms, links the laptop, and can call the family every evening when under the stars.
Quick 4 min call is about $2.50, cheap when you look the costs of everything else.

Sounds a good deal Majinda,
I was under the impression that you could not do pre-paid with the sat phones. I even contacted a company here regarding the pre-paid options and was informed by them that they no longer do this. But I suppose if you are under a US server then that might be different. I ended up getting a spot 2 for $199 for those "just in case" situations.

Hi Xenon,
Thats what Optus tell you, but a company called 'satellite phone hire' wa got this for me and they get them from the states. The recharge goes direct to phonecharge US and is done with a visa card, I just add 100 dollars every couple months
The Thureya sat phone is smaller and much lighter than an iphone and receives almost everywhere
