If this is some "prospector" that has done this then the person should be drawn and quartered. What in the hell would make anyone do something like this knowing that we as prospectors are always faced with losing our rights and access to ground. This sort of thing just give the greenies and do gooders some more ammo to screw us over.

I, and others here, would just love to have a "chat" to our friend who was responsible for this.

Wouldn't you all agree ?

i wonder if they found anything good? You would have to be stupid to do something like that tho. it will make us look realy bad and now they will be looking at more laws for us just to make it harder for people to go out. i hope they find the person who has done it and take there detector off them and band from detecting.

Gee you blokes are quick to point the finger, did you even consider it was not a detector operator (obviously not a prospector is it).
Looks like just straight out vandilism to me, it happens all the time mainly with cars or trailbikes. Usaully teenagers or younger kids, some do it for fun or just plain boredom.
Frecking newspapers love this sorta stuff makes people angry, crying for justice sabre ratting etc. Its great for newspapers they get to increase circulation with increases advertising dollars so it a win win for them.
I have left a comment on the have your say coimment box, how about instead of whing about it YOU all add comments yourselves its not real hard you know Rolling Eyes .
Read the artical the police said " it looks like someones been prospecting" not that it was, the paper has twisted the comment by the copper, so i sugest you all add a comment pointing this out.
Regards
John
PS Be careful with what you say as it wont appear if it appears you are abusing the paper" it say comments subject to editors approval" so stick to facts from their own artical and dont be abusive it wont get published if so.

Gday

Whether it was prospectors or not the finger has already been pointed in our direction so we will cop the blame for it regardless as they say "s--t sticks", hopefully someone will know who is responsible for it and dob them in to the authorities.

Maybe it has been done before, they look an awful lot like dig holes from prospecting to me, cant see that kids would have wasted the energy to dig a pile of holes in an oval, usually the little sods use their cars for that and do wheelies all over the place.

Anyway "stupid is as stupid does" so whoever did it needs to be made to take responsibility for their actions.

cheers

That episode is mild compared to what a coin hunter did in Albany WA some years back......he dug up the turf in a lot of spots in the local park and to save time looking for the targets he put it all in a trailer and took it home........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about this one. Empty Holes on Maryborough Oval

Post  jmp333 Fri Dec 03, 2010 11:57 am

Two thoughts on this one, first is someone dug them to cause hatred towards metal detectorists or some detectorist walked from the adjoining council run caravan park in a drunken state to find the big one. I stayed up that way two weeks ago and read in John Tully's map book that a big nugget was found near the present golf course and in the main lead opposite the cricket ground.
John. P.S I found no gold in day and a half up there.

How about this one. Empty Consideration The glue that binds

Post  harryopal Fri Dec 03, 2010 12:44 pm

Good morning all,
I suspect the culprits belong to the same family who walk their dogs on the Strand and up Castle Hill in Townsville and don't pick up doggie do dos so that small children can fall on it, we can step on it and families can spread their picnic blankets over it.
The element that makes the difference between living in a moderately civilized society and a crazy chaotic state of road rage, rude finger signs, and digging up community property is consideration.

Yours tropically, Harry

Actually I fail to see the funny side of it, though after reading your post here about how you don't give a fig and you'll wander on pretty much any company lease..permission or not, I can see how you could Gollstar.
Remember as the finger is being pointed at detectorists, this is just another nail in the coffin of your and our hobby. But then if you'll prospect any lease without permission I suppose a total ban wont affect you.

While it may well be detector holes, one of the golf courses down here near Wollongong gets hit quite regularly with near identical damage..and it's not gold, just some prick with a warped sence of humour. and a shovel

Im fairly sure i didnt say i would wonder onto every lease willy nilly, infact i think ive specificly said i would never claim jump a small time claim holders lease,

In fact i said it more than once, i have said in the past that international companys that have thousands of square km's and already do not allow Australians on those massive leases are a different story because its not fair that sino gold or whatever from hong kong can take out such large leases for 20-30 years and have the right to deny me or you the right to prospect, does any one here know the difference between a right and a licence, do we have a right to drive do we have right to own guns no we dont, but we can purchase a miners RIGHT, and it all to do with that word A RIGHT which we have too few of.

That be right Vb4meta.Neither will you see any greenies. They probably desecrated the ground themselves and figured, that's one more reason to blame this preposterous sabotage on the prospector.

is it right that you can do detect in these spots but you have to leave it the way you found it? i know it would be hard to leave it the way you found it but..... i can't think which town is was in the golden triangel but a bloke detected a street and found a good size nugget and they just said to him that as long as you leave it the way you found it they can't do nothing about it.... they ended up ripping the road up to resurface it but everyone was out detecting it pulling gold out off it so they left it for a few days until they had finish detecting it.... it's going back a long time ago...
