GPX SCREENS
HI ALL ,
Have just got the new Gpx 5000. I was wondering how the screens on the Gpx's stand up to scratching with the Dust & Dirt. Is it worth putting some touch-screen protector on ,like on the mobile phones, or no need.

Re: GPX SCREENS
I've never personally had any issues but I suppose it wouldn't hurt protecting the screen with something.

Re: GPX SCREENS
Those wimpy thin plastic screen covers are a joke.
They need to be much better quality imho.
That screen is vulnerable to getting hit, poked whatever.
Come on MineLab! You can do better.
(and I love my 5000 for all those that think I am bashing)

GPX Screens
Hey there Charlie C,
One of the first things Brad did when we bought the 4500's, was to fit a perspex window over the screen. it is just held in place with some tape, so its easy to remove if a bit of dust does manage to get behind it. (Though this has not happened so far) we did hear a few reports of people cracking their screens whilst poking in under & around bushes. As we all know some of the mulga sticks out in the scrub are blooming tough and sharp. Better to be safe than sorry hey?

Re: GPX SCREENS
The screen on the GPX series is actually a clear plastic cover (press it with your finger to see what I mean) and is not attached to the actual screen underneath (there is actually about 10 mm or so gap between the two), if you want to keep the screen cover from getting scratched then maybe cutting out a screen protector for a Ipod or Iphone or similar would help.

Hi JP,
That is what I did and it gives good protection from
pokes etc. Good suggestion thank you.
