If you overlay a map of Europe that is to scale all its 44 countries fit into a map of Australia's mainland that is to scale, with some land left over.
Australia's mainland is almost the same size of the USA mainland, and the USA's.

The population of Europe is 746 million....The population of Australia is approx 25 million ....So what is our problem?  Are we all eunuch's or Is it because much of Australia is desert?

The deserts of Australia or the Australian deserts cover about 2,700,000 km2 (1,000,000 sq mi), or 18% of the Australian mainland, but about 35% of the Australian continent receives so little rain, it is practically desert. Not much you can do with a dust bowl....Our survival depends on our intelligent use of our mineral resources. Covering them with solar panels, wind farms and shutting down coal and oil production etc is not intelligent use for a country currently in its economic death throws.

Our cost of living is way over the top of what ordinary Aussies can afford, so they choose not to have kids. Owning our own homes and land is out of the question now unless both parents are working with good paying jobs. But then even if they have kids they cannot afford the day care costs...Hell even Day care workers cannot afford to put their kids in day car.

So people are electing to have their kids later in life say 28 or 30 maybe or even older but by then the chances of miscarriage is high or giving birth to a child with a deformity is around 1 in 700. Is it any wonder that Australian pop growth rate is less than one per family and so the pollies say bring in more people from third world countries who cannot speak English, have false education & trade cetificates and think we are the devils of the earth who should not even exist....Like that will solve our problems aye

You do realize Adrian that for around 60 thousand years English in this country wasn't spoken ?
I think we can cut people a little slack who can't speaka the lingo ,they've come here for a better life so let's give them a go.
As to dodgy qualification that goes on just about every where, especially politics where you don't need any qualifications  affraid

Sixty thousand years ago near on nobody lived here...too much bloody ice mate Very Happy  Then gradually people from far and wide started to arrive, ( As the ice melted) different races and eventually around 100 + different dialects.
That meant different cultural beliefs and laws which resulted in lots of fights over who had control of particular hunting grounds and there was also a shortage of females which created a whole bunch of squabbles .
Then for the next sixty thousand years not a whole lot happened outside of eating sleeping and fighting. Then after  we white honkies arrived here after having traveled the world populating every country in existence  ( WE started our journey from the same country of origin as everybody else) an entire new saga began in the evolution of Man in this country.

Something to note is that during those sixty thousand years some people surged ahead  in culture, inventiveness and discovered how to make the land productive and to use the minerals that the land contained. Invent design and build ships planes n cars and trains, TVs, EVs washing machines radios and build space craft and the list is unending....While others remained unchanged.

But you know when you think about it, we with all of our cleverness also have not progressed beyond eating, sleeping and fighting , with fighting being high on the list.

.
These words may well have been spoken by the Tribal Elders at Botany Bay back in 1770.

Trouble was though, we couldn’t speak their lingo.

A good read.

As my old mum use to say Adrian some people would rather a fight than a feed, seems like most of the world wants to fight Sad

Yeah but instead they looked at us and thought mmmmmmm yuummmmmm. Q35 Q24
Europe is not all that larger than Australia; Imagine if like Europe we divided Australia up into 46 different countries. I wonder which would claim it to be theirs and theirs alone.  Russia thinks Europe should be is theirs....I guess they must be tired of skating to work and living on permsfrost.  Q35 Q35 Q24 Q25

Australia used to be fairly independent of the outside world, we built ships, trains cars, mined everything, we have vast oil and gas fields, mined gold, copper siiver, lead, iron, bauxite, have huge uranium deposits,  had great wool, wheat, potato  and vegetable industry, we exported truck loads of all kinds of produce, people had jobs and could afford to buy a house and actually own the land it was built upon etc n, even if you were single. but now  we cannot exist without  the outside world, nobody can afford a house even with all members of a family working...unless you are filthy rich.  Industry has all but disappeared...I think we still make Red head matches Laughing
If this country sank into the ocean today there would only be a momentary ripple in the world economy and then everything would go on as usual
