I do not buy that at all.
For that to be true every house roof top in SA would have to be covered in solar panels with an output of approx 6kw, and even that would struggle to run a half decent rev cycl air con. What about the electric ovens and radiators  and lighting and truck loads of other  appliances used in factories and hospitals  and machine shops...No way could solar alone run all of those things at the same time..   Hell a 2kw panel would struggle to boil my elec jug of water. and even then it would have to be a cloudless stinking hot day.

Why are lithium Ion batteries constantly being referred to as Solar Batteries?
They are not solar anything, they are just batteries that power almost everything these days.

Batteries used in conjunction with roof top solar panels for example can be any battery capable of being recharged.
The old lead acid batteries (preferably the sealed type) that power your car electrics can be used  with your solar panels and are in fact a viable option today in certain circumstances.

The big Tesla battery banks are not solar batteries, they are simply batteries.

The solar panels on your roof are not batteries, they do not store anything, they generate electricity ( an EMF)only when the sun is shining; at night they are dead meat.

If you want to store the power generated by your solar panels and to use that power at night then i suggest that you get a big battery bank like at least 7kw if you need it to supply enough power throughout the night. Like maybe boil your jug for a cuppa or run a little fan  heater.

It only met the power demand for a short period on the Saturday! No time period given! It looks like someone is fudging the numbers a bit to make it look much better than it actually was. Vested interests maybe?
