Current status of SMRs
In practice, the implementation of SMRs has been on hold for years. Since SMR projects are not standardized, and designing and licensing processes are country-dependent, new reactors would not be operative before 2030. The estimated capital costs for SMRs are proving to be unexpectedly high: SMRs' levelized costs of electricity (LCOE) could be over 100 U.S. dollar per megawatt hour compared to around 30 U.S. dollars for solar and wind energy.

The fact is that nuclear power at present is far more  expensive than wind or solar   and will become even less competitive price wise as the cost of renewables  continues to fall. Australia does not need and never  will need nuclear power!

“There are still a variety of challenges SMR technology needs to overcome before it can reach commercial deployment. “The hardest is economics," says M V Ramana, the Simons Chair in Disarmament, Global and Human Security at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and author of The Power of Promise: Examining Nuclear Energy in India. "Nuclear energy is a very expensive way to generate electricity.” Sad

Canada, 74 percent of their electricity is from nuclear and their power costs less than half of ours.
France is the same. Make of that what you will.

Once again I ask for understanding, only to have it fall back on deaf ears. Oh well, such is life. This topic has all but run its course. V02
