A week in the gold fields
I spent a week down at Maryborough with my son Justin. On the whole the weather was pleasant although it did cave in a bit before the end of the trip.
I swung the SDC and the 5000 for a nice piece and a nice little specimen. Like many the shotties were more abundant than flies on a sweat soaked short on a 40 degree day - am I right in thinking that the shooting people have ramped up their very unconstructive activities on the gold fields.
As some will be aware from previous posts I also indulge in a bit of photography, I was pleased to see a Hooded Robin which is endangered in my local area but did nt have my camera with me. I did see some ghost fungi which I imaged one night, one was only about 30 metres from where I found the specimen! These fungo are bioluminescent and give off a which green glow that appears a lime green under a long exposure.
All in all it was great to be back in the bush again, most therapeutic although my Mum passed away whilst I was down there.
Happy prospecting everyone!

Re: A week in the gold fields
Firstly my condolences to you & your family for the passing of your mum Ian.
The bush/forests, like the oceans of the world, are a school of learning within themselves. Shame about not having the camera to snap up that hooded robin, but top job on the picture of the fungi & the slug of gold, well done
Cheers Kon.
