Hello (Southern cross)
Hi
I'm Rob.
I used to do a little bit of detecting in Victoria years ago. I used to own a minelab sd2000, but sold it when I left Victoria in 2012.
Now that I have a bit of free time, Id like to try some detecting again.
I'll just hire an sdc2300 (the bloke in the shop says that's ok), and would like to have a go at Southern cross, mostly because it seems close to Perth.
Without asking you for your secret spots, can I please ask your advice?
Is Southern cross an ok place, or waste of time?
I've googled it, but can't find info such as is the gold deep, or is the ground shallow etc
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Rob

Re: Hello (Southern cross)
Welcome to the forum Rob,I cant really help you out but here in Vic I use geovic to locate sites.
I'm sure WA has a similar system. I found something similar called GeoviewWA, I had a go at using it but found it different to geovic.
Good luck with your endeavours.
cheers moredeep

Re: Hello (Southern cross)
G’day Rob and welcome to the forum,
Check out Tengraph on the DMIRS (Maine’s Department) and look at the historical mines in the Southern Cross Area. If you see there is Dry Blowing, you know that there was shallow digging in the area and that’s where to try the 2300.
Cheers.
Mike.

Re: Hello (Southern cross)
Hi Mike
Thanks very much.
I've just read that the southern cross area is supposed to have been worked to death?
I'm completely ok with returning empty handed, but I at least want to start with a chance.
I'll do more research.
Thanks again
