Newbies to detecting
Hi. I am not sure if this site is still active. We are new to gold detecting and we are hoping (border openings permitted) to come over to WA mid year and do some gold detecting in the Sandstone to Kalgoorlie area. We would appreciate some advice on where we are allowed to detect. All advice appreciated. Thankyou.

Re: Newbies to detecting
BernieJackie, welcome to the forum
Although the restrictions of COVID-19 have slowed us down some over the past few months, I can assure you this site is still active.
Being from Vic myself, I can't much help you out with your questions, but we do have other more knowledgeable members on here who can.
Best of luck with your new hobby & Merry Christmas to you.
Cheers Kon.

Re: Newbies to detecting
Hi BJ, Welcome aboard.
Re WA, for Newbees, in the distant past I have found the mines department in Lenora and Kal to be very helpful in regard to where you can detect. I understand this continues. See below for their addresses. From memory, both Kal and Leonora have free overnight 48Hr?? council camping to get you familiar with the place.
Further info re sites that you can detect on is found in Tengraph with the help of Google earth, its great and you can plan your detecting 40E sites. see below.
I always go with a Copy of Trilobite Geology App on my Phone and Tablet, ( ditto mate) pay for the additional info, shows you the geology of the ground you are driving over as well as your position on the detecting lease as well as other lease info.
We like to camp in the bush on the 40E or pending site, hopefully can walk out from the caravan and find gold. You can find gold with just about any detector if your lucky and the gold is big enough, but a more modern detector helps, these are along the lines of Gold Monster 1000, Equinox 800, Minelab 2300, 4500 or 5000, new or second hand. ( OK I have a Minlab bias)
In Caravan Parks you can meet up with new friends and together drive/camp/prospect near and far, in a couple of instances we ( self and partner) have done this to places 100+Km away from the CP.
