Passing of Rita Bentley OAM

I received some ever sad news of the passing of Rita Bentley OAM. Rita lost her 10 year battle with cancer. She past away peacefully in hospital yesterday. Her dedication and devotion toward and the support to small scale mining and prospecting in general was truly amazing and a inspiration to us all. She will be sadly missed.

My thoughts go out to all family and friends of Rita. She was the face of the pmav and a real pioneer for the betterment of the detecting and gold community. Very pleasant nature too and will be sorely missed. Her legacy will live on. Vale Rita Bentley

Saddened to hear the passing of Rita. During our time at the COILTEK gold centre We came to know the lovely person Rita. She will be missed by all that knew her and many that were not fortunate to meet her. RIP Rita.

Ritas legacy will live on. Do we think there should be a memorial award in her name who displays similar qualities for the detecting and gold industry and community in general?

Nice thought there Tim,It may be a little early at this stage to approach Rita's family as the grieving process may take some time to get over the loss of a loved one.
These things take time to develop,I'm glad you raised the subject and I'm sure Rita's family will think about such an award down the track.
