Nokta Red Racer
Picked up an old Nokta Red Racer off Ebay for a good price .
The detector works very well and can be used on salt water wet sand beaches.
It has all of the necessary adjustments required by coin, relic and jewellery hunters. Very easy to use and detects as deep as most mid to high range metal detectors today..
My only gripes are that the pinpoint mode is a bit wishy washy and the TID function requires a strong signal to provide an accurate TID. It also groups a lot of good non ferrous targets in the 82 to 84 TID range. Other than that it is a nice well constructed metal detector. Yes it will detect small gold chain.

Re: Nokta Red Racer
Yes it did take a while Ivanll.
I think it was around 2015 when my gold bug was stolen and I thought about getting the Racer. I did eventually obtain another GB Pro.
Anyhoo, the Racer is performing very well and I think at the very least matches my Gold Bug...So yeah, better late than never.

Re: Nokta Red Racer
Red Racer and Racer 2 are both underrated.
Red Racer, Fors Gold and AU Gold finder all VLF detectors are all finding gold in WA, they do it in an environment that is often hostile to PI detectors.

Re: Nokta Red Racer
I can believe that Ivanll.
This little detector seems to be able to handle fairly tough iron minerals and salt....Not common for single frequency VLFs and at 14 khz is quite sensitive to small gold.

Re: Nokta Red Racer
Ut's alright yez can stop lookin I fixed the old one.
Went to Pine Island yesterday ta dooo a bit of a detect with the Racer. Gave it a miss coz the place is now nothing more than a black mud filled swamp and a gigantic pool of breeding mossies massing along the stagnent water on the river edges. Will not be going near that place for a while. There are enough mossies in the water to churn up the surface.

Re: Nokta Red Racer
Our parks n gardens are still open although Tidbinbilla Reserve has limited access. They remain fairly deserted and a lone detectorist doesn't draw much attention. Even while detecting I carry a mask with me just in case somebody approaches for a chat.
Having said that, I am actually not going tecting very often, maybe once a week when I go to Pine island to check if the gates are still being opened. If they are i will go and have a bit of a scratch around.
I spoke to the Dept Of health a few days ago and they said I was good to go to the Bay but must abide by all of the current rules.
Good to know, but I will not be going to the coast for a while. Am happy to give it a miss while this virus thingy is still rampant

Re: Nokta Red Racer
The situation seems to be stabilizing here a bit.
My daughter arrived from Sydney this morning. Was stopped at the NSW ACT border for a breath test and answered a few questions re reason for travelling and allowed to continue. She had a legit reason and we are happy that she was let through. It has resolved a problem.
She said the h/way was almost deserted .

Re: Nokta Red Racer
Gosh cops have stopped breathalyzing people here unless it's indicated they have been on the plonk.
Anyway enjoy your detecting.

Re: Nokta Red Racer
She was a bit surprised and only wound the window down enough to do the test. The officer stood back as far as he could and still do the test..
I would have thought that the breath tester would have trapped some of any virus or germs inside it. Even tho you retain the test piece your breath still passes through the instrument....Maybe it is different these days as I have not been tested for years.
