It's dropped a little but it's climbing back up again...

Problems with Iran are triggering a massive push for Gold and Oil prices right now.
Will they hold?

"News of the missile strike on US bases located in Iraq also led to strong gains in gold on Wednesday, with spot prices lifting as much as 2.4 per cent to $US1610.90 per ounce, according to Refinitiv, hitting fresh seven-year highs in the process.

Spot gold priced in Australian dollar terms climbed to $2350.79 per ounce, surpassing the previous record high of $2321.55 per ounce set in late August last year.

Along with increased uncertainty, gold prices were helped by a slide in the benchmark Australian 10-year government bond yield to 1.151 per cent, extending the decline from the multi-month high of 1.42 per cent struck early last week to a substantial 27 basis points." (link below)

Well that's funny, for the Iranians are accusing the Americans of striking first Nero. This also explains the immediate gold hike & soon to follow petrol hike. Now like all senseless, illogical threats of war, I can only wonder who's to profit most from the stock market, by this newly created shemozzle.
Quick, fill up your Jerry Cans people. Shocked Q35

Well its been a good while since I 've needed to know what the Gold prices are ,nowadays I prefer instead on getting daily alerts from Simsmetal on what there paying for scrap .. Rolling Eyes Now whilst its good news for those who do have a bit of gold stashed away ,the idea of'' filling up your jerry cans '' could be a very real reality Crying or Very sad Even setting aside World politics ,I 've been harking on now for ages ,long before even these fires ,( thou I don't think too many people listened  ) that things are going to get a lot bloody worse in this country .Where I am there are empty shops every where ,xmass trading was dismal according to most I talked too ,all primary producers and related services are shut down ,unemployment rates in the last 6 yrs or more in regional and country areas are worse than what they were in the great depression Exclamation I should know all this ,as I'm one of those unemployed due to the drought .People need to have a reality check Exclamation All to often I hear ,'' she'll be right mate '' So I reckon if I had any Gold ,i'd be looking at it from a perspective means as  a survival way of supporting ones self in the trying times ahead ,ie ;power ,food ,fuel ,medications etc ,etc ,not wasting it on toys ,cruises what ever .

Sorry to hear that Hugh. I can only hope things do take a turn for the better. This "she'll be right mate" is an imaginary phrase, used by the naive, even worse when you hear the constant quote from politicians "we're still much better than many other countries of the world"? So lets just sit on it & play oblivious to all that's happening/taking place around us & keep quoting the same, till we reach third world status & maybe then when real hunger/poverty hits for the many, we all start paying attention. A bit to late then though. Shocked
As for the gold side of things, only If you're talking by the kilogram Hugh, for the couple of ounces most us detectorist's find a year, don't even cover our expenses.
