Re: lightning tree
G’day moredeep,
We had one of those just down the road from us, but we didn’t get to take a photo of it. As it’s all been cleaned up the next day, but you’re not wrong the mess was all over the road.
Cheers.
Mike.

Re: lightning tree
Hi mike,It would be a bit of a dilemma as to which would be the worst part being near a tree that was hit by lightning, the lightning bolt it self,or hit by a massive splinter .
I've cacked my daks a few times over the years from close calls and I refrain from making jokes as sadly people have died from from this act of nature.
you-tube has some great vids of trees being hit.
cheers moredeep

Re: lightning tree
G'day gents.
Although one has better chance of winning the jackpot in Tattslotto, than being hit with a lightning bolt, but, lets not push it, cause it just might be our unlucky day It is said that a typical lightning bolt may contain up to a billion volts & between 10 to 200,000 amps of current. I would hate to imagine, the repercussions on the human body of absorbing the full brunt, of such a lightning strike.
Cheers Kon.

Re: lightning tree
Now that is one lucky fellow. I suppose when ones number is up, whether for the good or bad, one cannot escape fate.

Re: lightning tree
You're right kon ,FATE,wrong place at the right time,I suppose old charlie was not a direct hit as such, as apposed to indirect hit which I think most cases are.
If you have to stand under a tree[apparently] stand at least a meter from the trunk so the bolt won't arc out onto you then to earth.
