ELECTIONS who to vote for Empty Re: ELECTIONS who to vote for

Post  adrian ss Tue Oct 16, 2018 8:23 am

It is a dilemma aye when none of us know which party has the best interests of the gold prospectors and metal detectorists in mind.
We all love the bush and nature and protect it in whatever way we can.
To have our prospecting hobby and loved pastime slowly stolen from us by people with the power to do so but with little or zero knowledge of what their actions and paranoid attitude towards the environment will have on the lives of a great many Australians is difficult to comprehend.

Our activity causes an  almost immeasurably small  alteration to the environment when compared to the mass land clearing and gigantic mining operations, dam constructions, road building,  that are ongoing every day in this country. All of these activities cause the death and destruction on mass of vast numbers of wild animals and their habitat and yet it is allowed to continue unabated.....All in the name of the mighty dollar.

That's absolutely correct Adrian & it will continue being that way, in pursuit of that mighty dollar. None of them are worthy of being voted for, but we have to vote. I'm just as confused on who to vote for, the frying pan or the fire Shocked Q35

Victorian ALP today announced it is adopting the VEAC recommendations on public land in the GT.
They are supporting the proposed exclusion of prospectors from a large area that we have had access to?

Prospectors would be well advised to not support the ALP or the Greens in the upcoming state elections or face significant further restrictions to your hobby.

I Agree.
Who owns public land, Government or Greens  (is VEAC Green ?).
Surely Government can't own it, as Government change Governing at most Elections.
How can Greens own it, as unfortunately for them, they are a misinformed group sadly.
Don,t mention the crown ,it,s public.

Like the Government ,VEAC and other groups, are in it for their own personal gain.
So would it not be right to sat public land is owned by all public and users.
As an example-:
Remember Lobby groups start wars, along side with Government approval, while the majority of quiet peacefull people ,don't want to make waves, so let these things happen

Day by day we are losing more and more of our rights.

I say bring back the cane, for future generations so we can have more responsible people ,for Government, lobby groups ,and not for monetory or Election gain, but for the people.

PS Plus animals and people have co-existedin the bush for thousands of years, when the traditional owners were hunters and gatherers, all around the world.

Nowadays all people who love and use the bush, do so as did the traditional owners,as they did in the past.

I blame the Government and some councils, for Locals who have not got the free facilities ticket , for waste ,so they dump it in the bush, whether it's a go or no go area.
items ect.
Just my 5 cents

It must be remembered that all peoples of the earth were and still are traditional owners of the lands along with all other animals/creatures.
We were all hunter gatherers not so long ago. The only difference between the people of the developed world and the natives of all undeveloped races / countries is that there is "No Difference". We simply took a different  road. We have all occupied all of the lands of the earth at one time or another and are all of one original stock and so we are all traditional  occupiers. We have to live somewhere and we all have a natural right to defend our home and land and freedoms.

Hi Adrian , I agree with you totally.
Hope we get a lot more responses, from the thousands of bush users, on facebook, here and other forums.
We all seem to be getting railroaded in this and all aspecks of our daily lives from the powers that be.
Cheers Graeme

I look and think - what can i say or do?
We are the minority but we are the civilized minority.
The uncivilized minority jump up and down and yell real loud, wear dreddy's and seem to be full time demonstrators.
How can we match that and be genuinely heard???

We have campers, cyclists, horse riders, deer hunters, detectorists, bushwalkers, fishermen, farmers, townfolk, shopkeepers and  most if not all are voters, and we can look into all parties to find which one deserves our vote, depending on our own special circumstances.

GPZhunter, are you referring to the current VEAC Central West Investigation? because the VEAC has extended the submissions date until 10th December and there report is then to be submitted to the Minister in 2019. As such it would be a premature adoption announcement by the ALP.

GPZhunter, After hearing this, I for one will not be voting for LABOR OR LIBERAL as VEAC IS GREEN and possibly VNPA, so in my opinion, whatever major party wins, VEAC AND OTHERS will cling to the winning party, but others can vote for who ever they desire.

The State ALP Andrews government has just granted native title to 11% of Victoria taking in Area from Kyneton to Euroa to Kinglake and out towards Mt Buller this effects all public land.
You would assume a management plan will come out shortly excluding and restricting public access to most of the public land, what,s left will have high access fees. Shocked Sad

So don,t go voting for ALP the Greens, so far Liberal, National and Shooters and fishers party are the only ones opposing this, so if your opposed to further restrictions on your hobby vote accordingly or loose access.

The looser Greens will direct their prefs to whatever party looks like it could win, no matter what that party policies are.
So if half of Australia voted for the Shooters and fishers party then the Greens would direct their prefs there. You can not escape these demented freaks.
The Greens will never have enough primary votes to win a stuffed toy at the show let alone an election.

Preferential votes are the greatest flaw in the Australian voting system and is the reason that we never get the Government that we actually vote for..

There is a way around it, when you vote ( and I know its a pain in the ass ) go under the line & number all parties 1 to 100 put greens as 100 labor 99 they are so far to the bottom they will miss preferential votes. that's what BUGU are telling us & as I said before go to BUGU F/B ( another pain ). page they will be putting a how to vote list closer to the voting day. BUGU now have over 12,000 members & growing. Cheers Bruce

It's getting very tricky.
Today's paper states that the libs may not contest 5 seats in melb so labor doesn't win, allowing 5 seats to be won by the greens.
And we all know that's not good for the bush user.
It's better to die standing than to die on your knees Mr GUY.

Post  granite2 Tue Nov 06, 2018 2:20 pm

Voting gets harder every election. In South Australia the two previous elections saw the Libs get 53% of the primary vote but still lost the election despite 53 of the people wanting them to win and toss out the Labor tossers who have made this states energy prices the highest in the western world.

The latest election was in Wentworth where we saw the independant win despite the Lib candidate getting almost double the primary vote, a clear indication that most voters wanted him to win.

Voting these days is like treading a minefield where you can see your vote helping the very person you wanted never to get close to winning defeating your candidate on preferences.

Unfortunately very few Australians bother with where their preferences go and the fiasco continues. Grandfather Johnson has got it right but hardly anyone bothers with numbering every box below the line and even if they did it often doesn't help.
