Just brought a GPX 4500 and thought l would try to learn how to find gold,As Rushworth is only a 30 min drive from home.When time permits as l work on an Orchard .Have found a 1874 Shilling and a .125gram nugget last weekend, Love the bush.

Welcome Camohunter.
You have started out with a nice very reliable metal detector that will still find gold in areas that may have been swept with the 7000. and you are in a good area for gold near the surface. The 4500 will find the deeper bigger nugs as well. Maybe try some areas on the fringe of the already worked ground where the gold was within a few feet of the surface.. Do some research re the depth of the leads and don't write of doing a few mullock heaps and something I learnt a long time ago; always check those signals beneath big old tree roots.
