Jackhammer, Entertained us for years with his stories, prospecting and military experience.
Remember one story where he fitted some mulga to his vehicle for an emergency clutch to get him into Leonora.

G/day, no Scottys not detecting any more, although there are rumors that he may make an appearance this season. He has moved to the east coast and enjoying a Sea change. Nightjar, that story you were talking about with the Mulga, that was Brian ( Pilbera Snapper ) who did that, he carved a bit of Mulga to fit the clutch on the old 1 tonner to get it into town.
Cheers Mono

Yes, I also remember reading his yarns on another forum.
Like "the great migratory starling shoot" "barricading themselves into the Pine Creek van park" etc. Very Happy
I seem to remember he removed much of his postings, preserving copyright.

I heard Scott is on his way back to the West in a couple of days. Looks like he will be going to his usual
stamping ground around the Kookynie/Redcastle area this year for a couple of months.
Always got a bit of a chuckle at his stories (some exaggerated!!) while having a few coldies
at the campfire & putting up with his practical jokes. Been awhile since he's been over to the West.

I did hear rumours Jackhammer is heading west again this year, going remote prospecting.........camping 100mtrs from the Kookynie pub ! Bless him he likes his comforts in his old age.
Jackhammer has his faults but I can truly say he is responsible for getting myself and lots of others addicted.to prospecting and some of those early trips we found good gold and had many funny times.......things that seem lacking these days with so many grumpy lease holders and looney pastoralists and D*******d prospectors

Here is a photo of my mate riding a big billy we had just rescued from a costine (spelling) at Famous mines (NE of Leonora) he was not far off dying. There was a number of other goats trapped but they were too damn wild to rope. We found some tree branches and laid them down against sides of the trench hoping that the goats agility would allow them to climb out.

You're probably wondering what the hell this has to do with Jackhammer??????
Well as it so happens he posted a story not long after about him and his cowboys coming along, finding and rescuing the goats at Famous.
When I replied to his post remarking we had been unable to rescue the others, his reply was in his usual colorful manner. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Good one Nightjar ,must be hundreds of goats die down those shafts along with lizards etc.
I was with Jackhammer when we found some goats down a shaft, some were dead and we talked a Yank (Jeff) into climbing down the shaft while we roped the goat out?
We gave the goat a drink of water and off it went
