Is the Pro find 35 really worth spending 229 dollars on??
I have a Detector Pro Pistol probe. This is a PI with good depth and adjustable sensitivity.
My Garrett pro pointer got nicked. This was a good pointer.

Yeah Joe I think I will give it a miss.
The number of times I have actually used a pinpointer to locate a small target compared to the total number of items I have found inc gold is sub atomic in smallness of number. Rolling Eyes

I always carry a pinpointer with me and I honestly don't know why, I never use it, in 15 years that I have been detecting the times that I really needed I can count it in one hand, so my advise is save your money for something more useful, like some beer for example...... Wink

Well I gave in and purchased a Pro Find 35.
Should have saved my money. It is very average for 200 bucks. The iron ID is iffy at best and very insensitive to small ferrous screws and bits of wire.
All Metal detection is ok but I am finding that I have to hit factory reset fairly often when the unit has responded to large items with a strong signal.
Might be going for a refund on this one.

A bit later in the day:

Now my bloomin Sea Hunter just packed it in....Shoulda stayed in bed today. Rolling Eyes

I always have a pinpointer with me. My Minelab Pro Find lives in my glove box, & that is where the bloody thing stays. Total waste of time. My best pinpointers are my GB2 & Gold Monster 1000. They too live in my truck & do a far better job than a pinpointer. Also can tell me if the signal is ferrous of not & often finds smaller gold in the same hole of a deepish Zed dig that the Zed didnt pick up on. The original signal & target first being picked up by the Zed. But the Zed can be such a pig at pinpointing & without having to make the hole wider just put the GB2 or GM 1000 down the hole.  Cheers.

I think the Vibraquatic 320 would have been a better choice for me because I mainly do beach work now.
I agree that pinpointing with the main detector is pretty easy and accurate but some of the real small stuff can hide in the dust; however I find the 35 to be somewhat insensitive to the really small bits of metal that my GB Pro and 2300 can detect with the stock coils.

I guess some may argue as to why you would want to locate something so small that the pinpointer cannot find it?
Well some bits of gold and silver jewellery can be pretty small but worth locating.

eg:
Pro Find 35 does not respond to these 9k gold earrings at the second lowest sens setting.
It does detect them at approx 0.5cm at the highest setting.

It is ok on all of the rings that I have in my finds box and has no probs with coins. I have not tried it at the beach yet but if it is at least as good as my stolen garrett pro pointer then I will be satisfied...(I think?)

I do not like the way that it seems to go into some kind of signal overload runaway after several strong responses and change of modes between Iron ID and all Metal. It is then necessary to reset to factory specs.. No biggie I guess but annoying for a 200 dollar pointer.

Adrian.

If you're not happy with the pin pointer then don't wait too long if you want a refund. I have carried my 25 for about 2 years before I tested it one day inside and it failed to pick up anything metallic. I contacted Minelab and was told to return it for replacement.

It is mostly useless so I use it not to pinpoint a signal but to get an idea of how close it I am. If it starts buzzing then I am close and it is pretty much located. If I get no signal then I am at least another inch or more away for small targets.

Regards Axtyr.

Ok it looks like I will keep the 35 but it probably won't get a lot of use
