Chatter wrote:Ok, i might have missed a post but when Wombat ran the other detectors over the Coiltek test patch we dont get to know the result? Because its only about the Q? Um, then why mention the Zed on the test if its only about the Q, that doesnt make sense?? Unless i missed a post that told about the 5 & 45 results, if so i am completley sorry and i mean that, compared to the Q then i have to say this is getting even more bizarre. How many here have been hanging out to hear the Q vs ...... ? Then they do it and say "na na na na na, we're not telling" WT? Is this an alternative reality iv fell in to?
Hi Chatter, If you read my report more carefully you will see that I said that this report was to see what the QED could do about picking up different size targets at different depth. And It did. Nothing more or nothing less. We weren't trying to put it up against other detectors. If we were intending to do that I would have mentioned it in my report with FULL and FINAL results on ALL tests on ALL machines. We only mentioned that the GPX & GPZ could also pick up the same targets. We did not even take down any settings on the other machines. Except the GPZ had trouble picking up a 5.5oz target at 22". You will see this report by Reg on another topic. And I confirmed this. Also the other detectors are at a high price range. The QED is at a price for most people who can not afford most other brands. If it is a proven Gold Detector then it will fill in a great gap in the gold detector market.

Re: The QED and me
Hi GB,
Nope, it doesn't work like that. To load the program into the detector you need to have a programming device and I don't think that the HEX files will be sent out as this is all one would need to then reproduce said detector.
Having the programming port routed to the outside just makes them faster than normal to reprogram
Wonder if ML will send me out the latest hex for my 5000? They have an internal programming port too. I think not..
Cheers Mick
Re: The QED and me
I am lead to understand that the QED is selling faster than they can be made.

Re: The QED and me
Hey Mick
l always find your advice spot on but l'm a bit confused on this one because when Minelab released the firmware update we had the option of doing a manual or an auto update by connecting our Zeds to a computor and then following the how to update steps from minelab so why couldn't that happen with the QED

Re: The QED and me
Yes the Z and 3030 can do this as they have been designed with this in mind. Also I think there is a patent from ML that has to do with updating a detector which makes it not an option to let the user update it.G.B. wrote:Hey Mick

It's a harsh world we live in!

Re: The QED and me
I feel that it is time that I clarified my situation with QED.
I have been attacked by Jim Foster over my involvement with QED and who has posted less than pleasant remarks about myself on a number of occasions.
When I first became involved with QED at the invitation of the developer and builder I was impressed with the fact that he had produced a pulse induction detector at a reasonable price that had impressive depth, good signal response, and was extremely light weight. It was not an automatic ground tracking machine, but was easily manually ground balanced.
When a new model was put on the market with no testing, and in my opinion took the QED in a direction that I felt was not the way to go, the builder and I fell out and my dealership was terminated.
My testing indicated that depth was compromised in order to achieve a more user friendly detector. I have tested my early model PL3 and found it to have better penetration than the later adaption. Where QED will go from here is no longer something that I have any involvement in.

Re: The QED and me
Language granite language.
I too had bought a QED off Reg after being shown all the ins & outs of it.
Nowhere did Reg ever state that it were a GPX killer. I knew I had a place for it & bought it for the right reasons, not like some others who expected a GPZ in a QED box for $1400 or $1800 with coil.
No one forces anyone to buy anything off anyone else. One buys off another because they want to, not because they have to.
Now if one don't do their own carful research & prefer to go buy what's been said by others or seen on YouTube & end up buying something from that info alone (without testing one for them selves) then ending up disappointed, they've only got themselves to blame.
Not on here in support of Reg, just stating the facts of my own experiences.

You have no idea of what Reg is like. While he and PC are on the forum I am not. You are already losing members because of them.

Re: The QED and me
Jim, I know not of any members past dealings or history with anyone else on here or elsewhere, nor do I care to know about. All that concerns me is what goes on and said on this forum & this forum alone. The only members I lose from here are the ones that don't wish to be on here anymore & for that, I am not going to bow down & apologise.

I for one do not want you to leave the forum, so don't let just a couple of members get on yer wick.
I was hammered into the ground from all sides with my opinions of the Infinium but it has served me extremely well and I have no doubt that there are a few QED operators who think that machine is fine..
If a member or members rattle your chain a bit then let it go, no harm will be done.....Now I know that is not always easy to do coz I like to argue and there have been several times on reflection when I have requested management to remove some of my posts in order to keep the peace and unlike some members I no longer feel the need to win every argument....Coz I know I am right anyway.
