I'm heading out to Maryborough today and will be hiring an SDC 2300 a couple of days any suggestions
Hi I'm Paul. Im from Gippsland and don't own a detector and happy hiring for one for the moment and just activated my membership at this excellant forum. I'm new to gold detecting and I find the gold history very interesting around the golden triangle and spent a great day training with Mark from Gold Prospecting Australia in Bendigo earlier this year. I highly recommend a day with Mark and Rhonda.
Would like to explore other areas around the golden triangle this long weekend. I have tried near Talbot, Castlemaine and Tarnugulla on my own with no success after some training with the SDC 2300 and have been itching to come back. Have loved reading people's posts here, an I'm keen to learn from the experienced members and appreciate people posts. I have followed jay gold and detrackozi to name are few and find posts and u tube footage very interesting.
Any suggestions where I should try my luck this week end around Castlemaine, Talbot , and Tarnugulla areas?
Paul

Welcome to the forum Paul
As for any tips..
all i can suggest is to get some of the john tully maps.
Find some surfaced areas and you should do well with the sdc2300
Or the old diggings
If you are finding too many lead pellets, just move a little.
I wish you luck.. but watch those Mozzies.. they are in swarms!
Out for blood

Hi Paul
Try to locate areas well away from any dams or water(low lying areas) the mossies will ruin your experience. You could try reef areas or surfacings around hill tops.
