Depth on the new detectors
Can someone from Minelab please tell us on this forum if the new detectors will go much deeper on big gold?

Re: Depth on the new detectors
Reading between the lines
"GPX depth advantage"
They haven't specified a particular GPX model other than the coin/relic timing on the 5000 in benign ground in the specs.I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Re: Depth on the new detectors
ML staff are not permitted 2 discuss unreleased models until after the launch date. I think if u read between the lines that the GPX 5000 goes deeper on small nuggets and therefore should be more sensitive to larger ones at depth. don't like the name though. Depth Advantage sounds like a misnomer. could have called it a mega goldsucker and it would sound just as corny!
someone sent me this link. no idea if it is real but I think not. ML don't put their name of the sides of the detectors or at least they haven't done it before. Wot is the likelihood this is real?

Re: Depth on the new detectors
I'm guessing there'll be a slight increase in depth due to the upgraded technology, making difficult conditions more accessable and having the new units simplified and user friendly.
I don't think we'll see a "great" increase in depth for a few years to come. There's more money in it for minelab if the do it one layer at a time...
Cheers goldenbrown...

Re: Depth on the new detectors
G'day Claimpeg.
If they've improved the electronics for better sensitivity and ground balance performance in Enhance timing mode, this in itself should increase overall depth,to both small and large nuggets. The question is by how much?
If i were to go by previous models, overall performance for each new model (through my experience only) were at least a modest 15% better.

I don't think ML would be sending out fake brochures to their dealers, and thats where I got it.

Re: Depth on the new detectors
yah but why do I need to be reminded of what brand I bought when the pain of a $7000 hole in my wallet can do the same??
cheesy slogan in gigantic letters is the dumbest thing i ever hear of
who wouldn't want to wrap it in a control box cover to hid their shame??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wot was ML thinking?

I love that people can even find something wrong with the outside of
the control box - which is usually covered anyway.
Amazing and weird.

Re: Depth on the new detectors
true! and for two weeks they found everything wrong with the gizzards aswell even though nobody had even held one today let alone pulled one apart to look.Flakmagnet wrote:I love that people can even find something wrong with the outside of

I solved the problem with the "controversial" externals and writing...I picked the loudest hot pink control box cover they had in stock
