Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
its pretty effective
you have to be using a dd coil and be within about 6" of the target.anything over that it will tell you its a good target. BUT , most people use a 4000 so they can use a mono coil,so discriminating dosen`t work. i think if you want to use a dd , a 3000 is just as good.

Hi Stoppsy, I know discrimination has it's place, but on the gold fields I couldn't care less if what ever detector I was using had discrimination or not as i never use it and could never trust it.
I'd hate to go home with that "what if" feeling.

Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
I can tell the difference between gold/lead and a bit of crap, you just know its crap or gold or somthing sounding close to gold ive found the more mellow of targets are charchoal, hotrocks [slate], chunks of black carbon, near metalic black chunks, and bits of lead, they sound like gold, but mono or dd i can tell if its junk pretty fast, ill dig it anyway but i know with some certainy what it is 95% of gold i found so far i new was gold before i got it out, but then again most gold ive found was with the dd,
Anyone know if the new ones coming out, im getting a healthy tax returns and a fat payout in 1 month so im wondering whats going on with the new detector,
If they dont bring out a new detector soon ill spend my cash on a 4wd and a trip to THE BIG WA and i will steal there gold like no other before, im thinking that just by a 4wd and find the best gold ground and hammer it and not even look at tenograph,

Geeze mate thats a bold statement, If you are serious about what you have just stated it is no wonder there is hot disscussion about this right here on this forum atm.
Be prepared to be nailed to the cross with comments like that!!
So are you one of these guys jumping fences?? The above statement tells me alot about you as a person!
I will be sure to lock my stuff away when you are around, you have just told the world you are a thief.
You have not been to WA before I would take it, you may get a look in the bottom of a shaft yet!

Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
Thats a bit over the top id say, told the world im a thief ha ha whatever mate, lock your stuff away thats just funny. id watch what you say about putting people in shafts thats not idle banter and not said in jest, and plain not funny like your other comments, the way you read my post and the way you interpreted it, is funny and tells me your probarly somone that doesnt laugh much, a bit uptight.
Just dont threaten me it doesnt help me or you and i do take your threat very serious, so if i see you one day im going to think this guy threatened me, think about that, i would.
The onus should be on claim holders to put signs up, it seems a big task to look up all the crap you have to go detecting in WA and to be honest i couldnt be bothered with all the crap, and after all that your still looking over your shoulder waiting for some wacker to jump you, and from what im hearing the gold mostly small stuff but a fair amount of it, you would have to find about 2 ounces just to cover the expencese getting there, ive thought about going for 2 weeks but forget it, not going to be worth it. maybe you should go there sounds like youd fit in there, maybe you can guard one of the claims, chuck people into shafts if the stray over onto forbidden ground.
ok i just read my first comment and i did say steal there gold so you got me but ffs it was joke.

Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
now now we have gone off the deep end with this...GoldstalkerGPX is a top bloke, he wasn't sayin that he'll throw you down a sharft, i think he was saying if you get court you mite get throwen down a sharft, it's just that some people don't like it when that sort off stuff get's said....it don't worry me what people say it's just water off a ducks back. i know one thing there is no way i would jump someones ground or fence, if that happens put the detector away and leave it there, it means that you have no respect for other peoples property, and that your getting brain washed with gold....the people on this site that i have chatted to and have helpped me out are awesome, we don't wont to read stuff about this....everyone has there say and some people disagree with it but that's the way it go's....now come on we'll leave it at that and get back to the topic....

I will make it very clear that at no point did I make a threat nor would I.
We have met before!!!
I think you should re-read before going off half cocked......stay off the turps and the keyboard they seem to make your judgement foggy.
(no snese of humor...anyone who knows me will be laughing at that)
now put your mirrored glasses back on and hibernate.

Hello Gollstar. I heard that it is springtime 2010 for the new release of the GPX2. Everyone is telling me that the new detector will not accept the old coils and must take a new type of coil being developed and sold by Mienlab. I have heard this several times. They say this is to stop pirating of their coils by chinese. Some pictures were on the internet and back light was orange colored and the control box looked army green like the old ones did. new machine said to cost over 7 thousand US dollars!!!

I didn't know Dougsi-Buggsi was a Troll on this forum.
Sorry Marco, you would need to be logged in to be able to read it.
It is an invite only site....Baawhaha!
No trolls here, but ya do hear alot of the dubious duo. (and I'm pretty sure they're not on that site!)

I didn't think it was acceptable to post links to other sites here. In fact, if the other board linked is password protected, you're being offensive to the Administrators of this board. I was also under the impression that QLD Sandy gave up his Admin position here since it was considered inappropriate for him to continue to do so when he had taken up a position as a Minelab dealer in QLD.
/Don't worry, I can access the site without a password or membership. Therefore, the 'Baawhaha!' is on you.

Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
Marco, i don't think that was the reason at all, as he is still a contributing member here, your statement makes no sense.
All three sister sites get along just fine and I have also posted links to that forum.
The forum linked to has somehow been confused with another, its not an invite only.

Just for the record for those who do not know, it is not an invite site.
I would have no interest of an exclusive club. (I won't voice my opinions of that)
I am an active member of the forum in question for it contains some excellent content.
Appologies for any confusion, it was meant in fun after a post of similar calibure by Gollstar about forums the other day.
Instead of 'Baawhaha' next time I'll just put
Cheers Baawhaha!!!
P.S. Thanks Narrawa I did not think I was in the wrong posting a link to there.

GoldstalkerGPX,
Really a modded gp extreme beat the 4000 and 4500, now thats interesting???? Theres all different factors involved i bet...but just goes to show its the ones that put the coil across the yellow stuff that come home with the goods....is this correct

Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
Yeah true HueyDuck, You must put your coil over it in order to find it.
The friend of Stoppsy who was using the extreme is the guy he keeps saying always finds gold every time.
I only met him for the first time last weekend and he seems like a nice fella, anyway he was telling me that he only detects on Sundays because he only ever finds gold on Sundays.
Last weekend was his worst weekend he's had, only 3 bits. Shame hey!!
It would be interesting to swap machines for the day, a bit like changing fishing spots, rods and bait.....He would still get the goods, I'm sure.
I should probably add that I was detecting away from diggings in an area I wanted to explore and only met up with the other two guys for about an hour or so later in the day before heading for home.
Cheers

A modded GP Extreme could beat a GPX? I remember reading in last month's Gold Gem & Treasure magazine that Jack Lang was recently using a modded GP Extreme detector (modded by Woody) to find all his gold... although i seem to recall that Woody and Jack have some sort of a past business connection in producing Jack's gold videos etc. Guess his modded detector can't be finding all that much gold because Jack was selling a lot of his nuggets last month on Ebay to fund another project. There were still some up today last time I looked.

Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
i think the reason he finds so much with modded GP Extreme, he's had it for a while and can pick the change off tone...i do get a bit peaved now and then that he keeps finding it lol, but once i get use to the gpx it will be the other way around
as use have said it's who runs it over the yellow stuff....it's a pitty that we didn't catch up sooner that sunday....dave and me will catch up with ya one sunday adrian and go out detecting one sunday...his worst day a 3 lazzy bits SHOW OFF

Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
Stoppsy I'm away this weekend, but the following weekend I'll be heading a bit further East.
I will be running the DD coil on that trip (mono's will be nice and handy though) to see what turns up.
Should I go on the Sunday??
Cheers

Get a room you two
PS: An old timer I know wished they had a VLF switch on the 4500, for the purposes of discrimination, so if you had doubts on a target, you could check it before digging.

i'm going to try the reject iron tomorow just to see how it go's....how do ya go using it tho? do ya just turn it on then that's it or do you get a bit off iron and wave it across the coil until it tunes it out?

Re: GPX4000 - Iron Reject
To trial it, run it over a piece of known junk, then slowly turn up the iron reject by 1 number increments and swing over it again. It won't block it out on a PI machine but 'blanks' the signal. You will get the jist of it when you try it out.
I tried to play with it when I got my machine, now I don't bother. You will make your own mind up after playing.
it is still said though....dig everything!!
A vlf switch on a PI, ferrous, how handy would that be!!
