GPZ not Iphone tolerant
Had some trouble with a lot of noise in the machine this morning, did an auto tune to no avail and while resting the machine on my leg to adjust settings it went berserk.
Turns out I had my phone in my pocket and was resting the detector shaft on it.
The phone sets the machine crazy when its near the shaft area under the handle and anywhere near the control box/battery area.
Moving the phone to my shirt pocket seems to cure this but I wonder if its still having any unwanted effects on the GPZ
Did try turning off the Bluetooth and wifi but this did not get rid of the interference.

Re: GPZ not Iphone tolerant
G'day Peteren,
Yes we had similar problems with our iPhone when Jen was operating the 7000. She had it in her back pocket and it would cause the 7000 to make some weird noises.
Cheers.
Mike.

Try putting the phone in "Aeroplane Mode" this way you can still use any mapping/GPS etc you may have on it without any send or receive signals from the phone trying to pick up signal from a phone tower.

Re: GPZ not Iphone tolerant
Funny how different people attack the same situation.
Everytime we go away [usually every 2 weeks] as soon as I cross the Great Divide leaving Melbourne the phone gets turned off and
placed in the glovebox.
I let everyone that needs to know, that I turn it on between 1700 and 1800 daily, then back in the glovebox it goes.
Any emergencies the local rozzer knows where we are.

Re: GPZ not Iphone tolerant
G'day All,
I forgot to mention that, that particular spot was not in a very good phone service area and we believe the phone was dropping in & out which caused these weird sounds coming through from the 7000.
Thanks Dave, sounds like a good idea.
Cheers.

This problem will arise when you are in low signal area and the phone is ramping up its transmitter and receiver to try and touch base with the closest tower, best bet is to turn the phone off as you will also get faint instability even if the phone is in your pocket. Also of note, this can also occur if the air is moist or it is drizzling and your clothes are damp.
