GPZ Coil detection Pattern????
I have a query on the detection pattern that was shown in the video by minelab!!!
"seeing how they have put it out there where the sensitive area's are maybe we could get a basic answer"?
In the video it showed to lines to the left & right of the centre line of the coil & described how different targets would be picked up, my question is would this require the coil swing over a target to be from side to side???
The reason I ask is, with a Mono coil you can push it forward under a small bush or hard to get to spot or in a narrow gutter/ creek you can just push it forward & still be able to get a signal response.
What are your thoughts???
JP & Steve H, not sure if you guy's can answer this? but I thought with the info supplied in the video, that there aren't too many secrets left in this regard, I understand if its a, "no comment"

Re: GPZ Coil detection Pattern????
Interesting question.
I'd say this coil will follow double D operation. Therefore no pushing under stuff or between trees, rocks etc...
I wonder if a mono will ever work/be offerred for sale on the Zed.

Re: GPZ Coil detection Pattern????
Interesting question!..I will hazard a guess and say that chip inside the coil switches between rx coils eliminating the need to swing under bushes

Re: GPZ Coil detection Pattern????
G'day Lee,
In the Vid clip, Bruce Candy explains it as, close to the coil there is two spots of response like a dd, out from the coil acts like a normal mono, so in theory it should still work like a mono if the target is deeply buried, but needs side sweeping if it's shallow, (if there's any shallow stuff left).

Re: GPZ Coil detection Pattern????
You will definitely have to swing it the same as a dd to get the best out of this coil.
I'm very exited about using new different technology and can already see the benefits and how I will apply them from the little info we have available at present.

Mate that is what I have presumed from the info so far, thanks
Thanks for every-ones thoughts, I guess in 2 days we will have a better understanding, hey.

Re: GPZ Coil detection Pattern????
Lee,just because current DD coils are configured with a back to back DD type winding, they perform in a similar manner as that of the monos, only give out less of a coil field strength. You can push them straight in under tussock, but, you just have to be a whole lot closer to the target to get a response. The main coil field strength of a dd,is basically directly under the coil, within the first 2/3 inches of either coil end. Motion detectors must be swung from side to side,up or down so as to be able to pick up,isolate and identify a positive target,as compared to the pinpoint mode on a VLF,in which the coil can remain stationary, whilst producing a constant signal over a positive target.
Cheers Kon.

Just remember all those that do not have a GPZ, you can still get gold where ever the 14" round GPZ coil doesn't fit.
