Re: Guess the price
For a giggle I'm going 8750.00 good Aussie dollars, it will be a nice feeling for buyers after the rumour mill has had it at 10K plus all day long, time will tell as it always does

$10,500.00
Initially only the 14" will be supplied, additional coils to come soon after release, first the large 18" then the smaller 8".
My guess...
The question I'd be asking myself would be, will the first batch be OK or will they just release them and offer free 'fixes' or 'upgrades' as required?
Time will tell.
Are there really that many big nuggets lurking within detectable depth?
One thing for sure BIG price = BIG gamble.

Re: Guess the price
I would not be totally surprised if it was around the same price as the 5000 when released or even cheaper..............as said before everyone is saying 10k + There's a lot more bums on seats with $6500 than $10,000......they wont want to price themselves out of too many sales.

Big R&D developments costs on this one. They will price it to recoup some of those costs and be a price that its ongoing performance will prove to be worth what they will charge.

Re: Guess the price
If that 40%* is dinkum then it'll make a 5000 look like a VLF, so yeah $10.5K seems about right. $12K in NZ
Good post for talking ourselves into it, doesn't sound so bad now $10.5K $10.5K $10.5K

Hell I sure hope you're right but I don't think so. Aim high and if it's lower then happy days
I'd rather sing the "lower" song and maybe then they might keep the price realistic and more affordable for the 95% of prospectors that do it simply as a pass-time and a hobby, than to simply accept a huge $4k jump from their previous model (GPX5k for anyone )

Re: Guess the price
There is no way in the world... that people........, general hobbyists, are gonna pay 10.5k$......
ML should understand that surely???
Pro's, yep, no worries.... but what...... 10 pro's vs. 100+ amateur hacks???
Put the price in the middle, and they get the pro's and half of the 'wannabe' pro's..........
That's how I would 'MeerKat' it!!!!!

Re: Guess the price
Heh, my post was accosted!
You're so very right though mate.
In the clear light of the dawn, $10.5K or presently 8.5 rough oz troy, is a hell of a lot of sweat, blood and blisters, hard yakka those bloody shiny bums sitting in their air-con rooms calculateing the price are so far removed from.
Hell they had me considering by hook or by crook, but sensibility returns, give it a while till the first flush has cleared and the cistern refills and the dealers will be discounting to keep the doe rolling in!
Cheers.

Re: Guess the price
Judging by the way that people have taken to the pre-orders the $10,700 price tag is not doing Minelab any harm. However, if the detector doesn't live up to expectation then it will do irreversible damage.

Re: Guess the price
Still all over the place.
Aus leakage = $10,700 = 8,327 USD
US leakage = $8,950
NZ Dealer = $11,995 = 8,907 USD
According to this, the real Aussie price could be nearer $11,500

Re: Guess the price
I agree with Gold Miner. Set it somewhere around 8-9K. And it will appeal to a bigger market. If all that fails then force Minelab to drop the price due by having the market boycotting them. Simple supply and demand will regular the price but overpriced goods put alot of people off.
Problem is getting some cashed up detectorists from resisting buying one for the next 6 months.
It indeed would be an interesting scenario if it could be pulled off.
Will see what happens.
