headphones or not ?
I have a 5000 and use a little speaker wired correctly so the internal booster works..... I run the threshold at about 11 o'clock and can hear the hum fine.........my question is what do you experienced people do ?? Without a rooster booster or similar would you rely on the internal amplifier or use headphones ??

Re: headphones or not ?
G'day T.H.F,
I only use the in ear phones as I find the ear muff type too hot and also they tend to slip off my head when I bend over to dig targets. The ones I am using now are the sennheiser ones they are very clear and you can really hear those faint sounds. Speakers would be very handy when you are showing someone how to detect and also if you are doing a video of your detecting adventures. Here is some links to the sennheiser phones. Hope this helps.

Re: headphones or not ?
I have to use headphones as I am deaf in my right ear, and SDC speaker location is no good for me. So I favour Sennheiser in ear ones for summer via Nenad adapter and supplied Koss for winter.

Hi PaddywackPaddyWack wrote:Kmart $4 special 16 ohm sound good to me
Not a bad price..
I have brought cheapies in the past..
Still have them, the sound quality just isn't the same.
I go for the Sony ones, is that what brand you brought?
The Sony ones I brought were $19 but that was back two years ago..
I also like the in ear ones that are used with iPods

Re: headphones or not ?
This is the type I am using
Although mine have the higher sensitivity 110db
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/audio-mp3/sony-in-ear-headphones-black-dsau-a8724
But I have my eye on these, they are pricey, I like the idea of no wires
http://www.detech-metaldetectorsaustralia.com.au/
Anyone out there have any feed back on the ones from stinky Pete??????

Re: headphones or not ?
Thanks Pablop
I thought I had put the right link up I think I am tired
I can't believe they are still out of stock!
Bugger.. I have had my eye out for them for a while.
But still waiting on some feed back,
I wanted to know if there was a delay in the sound when they go over a target?
Back to the headphones?

Re: headphones or not ?
I feel the need to apologize for my above posting, and should of been more informative & helpful
Just for those who are into buying in ear head phones and what to look for
sensitivity/ 107-120db -the higher (db) the louder speakers will be.
Frequency/response 0-22,0000 Hz - the better the range more different high & low tones.
for example 12-22,000 Hz will operate in slight higher tone range.
and 0-20,000 Hz will operate in slight lower tone range.
Hope this is more helpful

Ha! I wonder how many retirement bricks I've missed with my El cheapo's?
Maybe I'll plug the sennheiser cx880's in this weekend and walk over some old spots..

Re: headphones or not ?
For anyone who may be interested, the Sony ones that Jen provided a Dick Smith link for earlier in this thread are on special at the moment at DS. $15.00 for two sets.
Could not pass them up as cheap insurance I thought.

Gday Mike ,
Just wondering if you are using the PMX685 with your 7000 ?
If so - are they ok.....?

Re: headphones or not ?
G'day Anthony,
I have only tried them once and I went back to the WM 12 wireless module speaker. I will probably give them another go again, but I feel that the inbuilt speaker is working ok for me for the time being. Young Mick is using his and he seems fine with them.
Cheers.
