Hi, just asking if there are any mono water proof coils available for minelab gpx 4500?
or could you put lots of silicon around where cable goes into coil to waterproof it.
just looking on using it in shallow creeks.
Also would machine have ground balancing / emi issues once in water? Or would it operate the same as on dry ground?
has anybody tried this?
Thanks tg

Agree with geof_junk on this one. The Coiltek Platypus comes in both Mono and DD configuration. Both perform well underwater, wading through fresh water streams or rivers. They operate slightly noisier,(mono more than DD) when fully submerged underwater water, than what they do over dry land, but the slight bit of resonance heard, whilst being operated under water,is quite tolerable and target signals are quite distinguishable, from any surrounding coil hum.
Keep in mind that working underwater,is difficult enough when trying to retrieve positive target signals. This is where the DD version (although not as sensitive as its mono counterpart) has some advantage over the mono, because of it's discriminating iron capabilities.
A word of warning, neither coil is designed for comfortable use,in wet salty environments.

Cheers Kon.
