Dear Ms Bentley
The Premier has asked me to thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the fundraising efforts at the Laanecoorie Gold Bash in support of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Research Foundation. The generosity of those involved, including members of the Prospectors and Mining Association of Victoria, is to be commended.
It is heartening that a record number of Victorians are now surviving cancer. Much of this progress is thanks to the work of Victoria's world class cancer research institutes, including Peter MacCallum.
Despite this progress, cancer remains the cause of considerable suffering for the Victorian community. That is why the Victorian Coalition Government continues to invest in cancer research, including support for two new purpose-built cancer research and treatment facilities, the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, and $17.5 million in grants announced in June this year to support the State's leading cancer researchers.
Thank you for bringing this matter to the Premier's attention. Please extend my thanks to all those involved in the event. The $17,429.35 raised at the Gold Bash will help Peter MacCallum continue its invaluable work in the fight against cancer.
Yours sincerely
Craig Ondarchie MP
Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier

Re: WOW The BAsh Makes It To No. 1 Treasury Place
I'm not quite sure were the Premier's Office got those figure from that we raised. And it is great to been seen to support this worthy course by amature prospectors. Now this is the true figures. Total raised from the Bash is $18,584.70 less expences of $1,056.35, giving us a wopping big Cheque to Peter Mc. $17,528.35. Thanks everyone who came along to the Bash, to ALL our sponsors and speakers and to those that helped over the weekend. Without this joint effort we would not have achived this great total.
Thank You All.
