G'day from Nick the pom
G'day all,
An old mate of mine from Vic put me on to this site and it turns out his folks are the moderators! Hi again Mike, Jen and Mick - missing you all!!
By way of intro I took a trip out to Aus in 2009 with a GPX 4500 hoping to find a bit of gold for the first time. Way too early one morning in WA, I'd was smashing away at a chunk of bedrock that was giving me a signal but the pick was just sparking and bouncing off. Mike, Jen and Mick had set up camp nearby and had been woken up by the din I was making. Eventually up walks Mick with his pick in one hand and and a mug of coffee in the other and introduces himself for the first time:
'G'day mate, mind if I have a go?' Still holding his coffee in one hand and his pick in the other like a golf putter, he ever-so-gently taps the side of the rock once. It crumbles...
'It's not how hard mate, it's where '
They took me under their wing and mentored me in the fine art of 'walking over gold'. Five months later, after gallons of beer and Jack Daniels by the campfire and 14oz of the yellow stuff, I headed back to UK after the greatest adventure ever - for which I'm eternally grateful.
I can't wait to get back out again but in the meantime I'm making do with finding gold in the UK - there's not much - but it's there alright.
Nick.

Welcome aboard Nick
Yep young fella is mighty handy at times, helped us a lot as well.
You didn't need any mentoring, you knew what you were doing,
just not at the time with your small Geo pick
There's only one moderator in this family Nick..
And it ain't Me
