Air compresser -- how this look?
I defer to the more knowledgeable!
What the collective opinion on this one value for $ and suitability for bush repairs etc?

Re: Air compresser -- how this look?
It looks good, I have one fairly much the same. The only thing it doesn't mention is the duty cycle, but really unless you're going to pump up 10 tyres in a row, then it probably doesn't matter too much. So my verdict is that it's good and at a very reasonable price.

Gday Looks good for the price only hope for a heavy duty job that it might have an inline 30 amp fuse they do pull a lot of power and they do heat up normal Regards Big Fella

Looks similar to one I purchased a couple of years ago [click here] which had been reduced from $249 to $160, it has an inbuilt safety fuse (push to pop back) and it even pumps up my air-jack to lift the LC100 series in just a couple of minutes (can also do the same using car exhaust however air-compressor is safer). If it is similar in specs/performance then the price looks really good.

Re: Air compresser -- how this look?
Gday You can get a twin cylinder one with all the bells and whistles then you can pump up the clubs tyres after a run but that's only for showoffs IMO So be practical as I know you are and go for value and reliability and I reckon that's what you are looking at

Re: Air compresser -- how this look?
Looks like a good one and has plenty of cooling fins on the cylinder. Good idea to keep the motor running as according to the specs it draws 45 amps.

Hi mate, choose carefully.
The time one fails is when you need it most.
Some homework = https://www.google.com.au/search?q=Thumper+Air+Compressor&oq=Thumper+Air+Compressor&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i59&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8#q=Thumper%20Air%20Compressor%20review

Re: Air compresser -- how this look?
I got the one from Repco that looks sililar to this one from suoercrap.
http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-12V-Hurricane-Air-Compressor.aspx?pid=129248&menuFrom=90504#Cross
The brand name on mine is "Gear up"..good for 150 PSi and 40L/min. .. draws max 50Amp. (killed my starter battery on first use...battery was no good anyway )Has thermal shutdown....payed $79 @Repco.
How does it perform???
To top up a 205x16 thats just down a little, i could go shopping before its finished.
It tripped out when used in direct sunlight...mind you it was about 38-40deg. I now shuv it in the shade of the truck when using it.
Its got the stupid screw on nozzle thingy...pain in the rs.
Has the yellow coily extension hose with gauge attached to fitting end...im amazed ... the gauge when compared to a dedicated tyre gauge is accurate.
You get what you pay for.......best advice, do your homework and buy it once only.
My excuse is...limited funds at the time of purchase.

Re: Air compresser -- how this look?
You sure do get what you pay for.. well what we could afford.
We brought a cheapie, like the one Narrawa has pointed out.
Should have brought one like our son had brought, we are always borrowing his as it does the job in no time flat, and just keeps on going..
I did a quick google search for the make he brought, this isn't where he brought it from..
The model he brought was called MAX AIR.
He paid close to $400 for it about 14 years ago.. I know it's not cheap, but it never fails either.

Just to point out... I feel it's actually the fitting that let's this compressor down as the hole drilled into it is no where big enough to allow the air to go into the tyre. This one was the second one we got as the first one had to be returned as they didn't drill the hole in the fitting. I am going to keep an eye out for a better fitting and replace the one on it. The one we bought is a "Lion brand"

Hmmm, or maybe if it's only the hole in the fitting, you could drill the hole bigger???

Re: Air compresser -- how this look?
Yes I already thought about drilling it, but it is like Narrawa's it a screw on the valve job and not very practical. and a pain in the bum.

I recall 4wd action comparing air compressors - perhaps a while ago. Have a look there. Their search engine is down at the moment elsewise I would have posted a link.

Found this on google (google is my friend)...
http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCsQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.4wdaction.com.au%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2F4WD169%2520036-054%2520FEATURE%2520air_2.pdf&ei=yLImU8rkGYqIkwXvyICAAQ&usg=AFQjCNGmw3fZ93vgxdS4gmAVOVQJ9Up32g&sig2=B9IIj4B9IKDpjGI-lm1TIQ&bvm=bv.62922401,d.dGI
It compares the well known brands, cheapies and expensive ones, and gives a summary. Tigerz isn't too bad...
