New members in Central Qld
G'day All, What an enthusiastic and interesting group of people. We are new at this gold detecting caper though have been rock hounds polishing, and faceting for many years. We enjoy being out in the bush. Am heading south thru NSW to SA end of March, primarily the Flinders Ranges for an exploring trip. Haven't been in SA since the 80's. We'll have our kit with us and will research spots to detect on the way down and home thru Victoria a few weeks later. Later in the winter we'll head north thru Clermont to somewhere in Nth Qld for a bit of a scratch around.
We each have a GPX 4500 with the standard DD coils and have added a 20" NF mono, a NF Sadie mono and may add a 11" Commander mono as I hear they a good quiet coil for small bits. Found JP's 4500 DVD'S very useful. Only been learning the machines around here for a few months and found heaps a barbed wire bits. Where is a good place to find out what outings/trips etc are happening in various places around the eastern side of the country?
Cheers, Doug & Sharon

G'day stillalookin & welcome to the forum
Sounds like a good trip you have planned. You have got a couple of good detectors, you will find the 20" coil a bit of a hand full if your new at detecting. The little sadie mono will be good for scraped areas that have been gone over previously to pick up small bits, run the mono coils in enhance mode on the front switch, and the DD coils in normal mode.
I recommend you get the 11" commander mono coils as these are very suited the the GPX4500 machines and an excellent all round coil.
As for outings/trips, just keep an eye on the forum as people just have spur of the moment idea about when they want a bit of company to detect with for the day. The other option is when you are in an area just post where you are and would like to meet up for a detect for the day, and quite often someone will take up the offer.
cheers dave

Welcome.
I don't know any other detector but the SD2200d but I can highly recommend the 14" Nugget Finder mono coil as a great all rounder & it fits right in the middle of your current coils so you will cover most situations, good luck, let me know when you are in NQ
