Sand Shark & Gold Bug
Just got back from 3 days at the beaches between Merrimbula and Eden.
Took the Sand Shark and the Digital Gold Bug.
The Sand Shark was brilliant on all areas of the beaches and pinged one long lost 20 cent at a definate 24 inches +. It was easy to guesstimate because it was sitting neatly on the bottom of the hole in hard packed wet sand. Found plenty of coin that had been missed by the local coin hunters. Ya jus gotta know where ta look It was all deep, old, green and corroded........sand Shark impressed me.
The Gold Bug was great in the All Metal mode, Ground balanced well, got excellent depth in the dry and wet sand all the way out into the water.
The Disc mode is useless in wet sand and the detector in this mode on wet sand could not see a 20 cent on the surface until the coil was about 2 inches away from the coin. So give the disc mode a big miss at the beach. The All Metal mode displays TID and target depth anyway.
I swear that the bloody ocean is alive and knows yer there walking on its sand. Every time I was detecting just above the water line the water was fairly calm but when I started to get into the water the waves increased in size and when I started to dig a bloody hole to go for a target a bloomin great wave would rise up and try ta drag me ta Davey Jones Locker. ........
