Godless and Godless Seeking Divine Intervention or a Mentor for GPX5000
Hi everyone.
I am not sure whether this is the appropriate forum for this post anyway here it is.
I can’t begin to tell you how disappointed I am with the GPX5000.
A brief history, purchased 18 months ago.
TRIPS ; Clermont 5 weeks, 2 to Charters Towers, Ravenswood, 3 to Thanes Creek, 2 to Calliope, Canoona, Mt Chalmers. I figure I have detected for 19 weeks for 16grams.
Unfortunately I bought the 5000 to try and reduce my substantial debt.
With the benefit of high insight this was and is a floored strategy. Paying it of is now my goal.
However I cannot afford to keep it living on a disability benefit. But I have the luxury of time!! A 60 series Landcruiser and caravan.
It will have to go to EBay with all the other GPX5000s. Seems there are many people in my situation.
The 5000 is just too expensive to justify for most low income people and would take many years just to pay off. I would love to prove myself wrong.
Enough winging.
I am looking for someone who can help me personally. To have phone contact if they wish.
Someone who has experience in Queensland, who can help me with settings in different areas.
I want to try a last ditch effort. I need to at least try and pay the machine off. To persevere and keep at it and try to enjoy this interesting pastime.
At the moment I am in Townsville and will leave next Monday.
A trip to Forsayth/ Long Gully Station, Lornevale Station or Flat Creek Station, then across to Mt Mulligan has been suggested. Can anyone give me advice on any of these Stations, should I go to all or just concentrate on one? Do I need to change setting for each location? Any other locations worth trying in this area? I read on this forum Mt Mulligan is highly mineralised and trashy and very little information on the others.
I will not go into exact detail regarding what I have been doing re-settings etc.as this post will be too long. Except so say mostly running in FP Fine gold, Deep/General. Sometimes using DD in high trash areas in Normal/Salt Gold and switching from General or Deep to Custom/Iron reject. To reduce the amount of digging. As I will be alone do I need a hand held GPS on these station, am I likely to get lost?
Praying for some luck regards.

Re: Godless and Godless Seeking Divine Intervention or a Mentor for GPX5000
Hi Trickyric, first of all don't be too dissapointed with the 5000 unless of course you think your 5000 has a fault of any kind then send it back for repair under warranty, the best of any equipment does not gaurantee success,19 weeks is only a weekend away compared to some of the time taken by others to find any gold at all, so don't be too dissapointed, with the benefit of hindsight as you say your plan to pay off your debts with the 5000 was definately flawed if that was your only plan, if after 19 weeks of detecting at several locations you have not begun to master your settings then you are just not paying enough attention my friend or perhaps you already know more than you think you know, there is no one setting that will suit all situations, you must play with the settings to learn them and each location may require a different setting, you will not know what those settings are until you are standing in the spot and then you will need to adjust to suit, I see you have found some gold so you are doing something right , often it is just a case that you have not waved your coil over the gold, you must bear in mind that luck plays a very big part in this game, all of the areas you mention are highly mineralised and will require setting changes in different locations within each location on different days at different times of the day, are you likely to get lost? well that depends on how you operate in the bush, do not rely solely on a GPS the opportunity to vanish and never be seen again exists and is waiting for you in all those locations as they are vast areas and at present dry as Bin Ladens sandal and getting hotter by the day, Flat Ck 100 sq kms, Long Gully 100000 acres etc, all mountainous and some of it will have never seen a white mans footprint, go carefully my friend, if you intend to visit Forsayth I would suggest you contact Steve at the van park and engage him for a little one on one training, once again there are no gaurantees but he does know what he's talking about and has a simple no frills approach that has worked to bring him some significant success in the area and he has put many others on the road to better opportunities, good luck out there.

Hi trickyric, you sound despondent - don't be. Some of the places you have detected can be difficult for finds. I agree with Wayne's post (Digginerup).
Details with GPS can be found here but I'm not sure if fees have changed -
http://www.aussiebudgetcamps.com/Review-Qld-Flat_Creek_Station.htm
http://www.aussiebudgetcamps.com/Review-Qld-Long_Gully_Gold.htm
The areas can be hot & dry and a good vehicle is essential.
Good luck.
Annie

It's a sad day when you loose faith in your machine. Not to worry. Help is never too far away. I have 2 contacts in Vic that have a great success rate with the 5000. They are always happy to help with any questions. If you want I can put you in contact with them if you still need help. Send me a message & I'll give you their numbers.
same goes with any other member that's having troubles with the 5000. These guys are what I would call experts in their field & I'm continuously jealous of the gold they pull each & every week

Hi Aussiedetecting
Thank you for the offer. I would be great to have contact with your friends in Vic. So far I haven't come across anyone who is expert with the 5000.
I think most people just run FP and hope. I would appear that it is necessary to change and alter setting depending on the conditions.
Your welcome to text me if you wish.
Leaving for Forsayth and am not sure if telstra mobile will work up there or not.
regards
