Re: Camping and the 5 basic rules
Hi All
A good fridge or 2, good shelter from wind sun & rain, fresh water, spares for breakdowns of any description & the skills to fix any problems.
Keep your camp clean!!!

Re: Camping and the 5 basic rules
Long term camping in a remote area.
Collecting rain water from the tent or annex or from some other method.
Use a portable shower unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter, for those that haven't use them stand in a plastic container with hot water and place the small pump in the container, the water is recirculated.
Heating the water can be from various means but for showering I use a heat exchange unit that is fitted under the bonnet, takes about 10 minutes with the engine running to heat enough water to have a good shower.

Re: Camping and the 5 basic rules
I have puddings everyday, the amount of stuff in the supermarkets today in small packets, UHT milk, cream, custard, rice, yogurt and fruits and a heap of other stuff that doesn't need to be in the fridge.
You can even get freeze dried steak and meals from good camping shops.

Re: Camping and the 5 basic rules
We must go to different fields there XIV. I quite enjoy a bunny or 2, but I very rarely ever see any, so I never bother taking the old rifle with me.

Re: Camping and the 5 basic rules
My number one rule, though I seem to forget!
If intending to sleep in the back of the wagon, don't be lazy, clean the back out, and stop tryen to sleep in the passenger front seat not!

Even worse when you try sleeping on the drivers side and realise your feet have been on the brake pedal all night flattening your battery.
Remember when sleeping in the back of your wagon to check for spiders after carting wood.
Always remember to keep a window down a little when sleeping in a vehicle as the build up of Benzene from plastics will kill you.

Camping and the 5 basic rules.
Whiskers wrote:Guys i been thinking about long stay camping and the 5 basic rules weather you use a tent, camper trailer or van. A few nights in the bush is nothing you can camp in just any fashion you wish but on long stays it is very different. Can you add to the list.
- To eat well
- To sleep comfortable and warm
- To have a hot shower
- To have a reasonable toilet setup.
- To stay dry

Anyone use those instant hot water gizmp's that run of propane. You can hook up a shower connection too I think. I will getting one.
