Notebook computer: HDD or SSD?
I am looking at getting a small notebook computer to run a mapping program whilst travelling in my 4wd. The model I’m considering (Asus) has a normal HDD. I’m wondering how these perform on rough tracks or should I be looking at something with an SSD.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks.
Co.
PS:I think that the PC will somehow be fixed on the console between the front seats.

I have no problems with a hard drive but have a good soft suspension. Maybe a Solid State one would be better on a hard old suspension.

Pebbles,
I just bought myself the ASUS "Nexus Google" 7" tablet to run oziexplorer for android ($25) on it and it's great.
Has a built in GPS, 32GB SSD drive and is only $250 at Officeworks........it's a great size too, not too small and not too large to be a pain in the butt when travelling. You can also WIFI hotspot to your phone data to use it for the internet if you want to.
Here's a page on the forum where I posted some pics : https://golddetecting.forumotion.net/t14085-moving-maps-in-oziexplorer
I got the windscreen mount off ebay cheap too.

Re: Notebook computer: HDD or SSD?
I use a cheap 2nd hand laptop with a usb gps receiver so I can run the full ozi program, also have samsung tablet with a 64g sd card. The laptop is touchscreen withe sreen being able to be rotated and folded flat to make a tablet. Hdd is a normal 500g with no problems in performance over rough 4by tracks. Power comes from a 12v cord. 500g ssd are fast, but expensive. Have one in my desktop.
