Another Newbie from the Mid North Coast NSW
Hello everyone, I have been reading the forum for sometime and its time to dive in and introduce myself.
I am 58 and semi-retired on the Mid North Coast of NSW near Macksville.
My limited experience with gold prospecting/detecting was many years ago in the Araluen area. The last was on the day of the Newcastle earthquake so that tells you that it was a long time ago.
My father bought a Red Baron Bounty Hunter which I still have somewhere in the shed.
Anyway I have entered the pool at the deep end and have bought a GPX5000 which I have yet to pick up but I am looking forward to future trips and adventures.
In studying all the information, tips and hints on the GPX5000 I have noticed the DVD 'Unwrapping the GPX 5000'. Can anyone tell me if it is worth a look for the dollars. In my case it probably is.
If anyone has one they are finished with and wish to sell let me know please.
Thats about it for now and I look forward to meeting members, out and about.
John

Re: Another Newbie from the Mid North Coast NSW
G'day Nugnut and What you have done in buying the 5000 is proberly the best thing, you will be starting fresh and at the top in the detecting game and not have any memories or being confused with other detectors of the past that you may have had. The five thousand is a great machine and it will find you gold. Keep reading the manual over and over again to get to know your machine. Then after a few weeks being out in the field read the manual again, you will be suprised how much you did not take in at the first few time reading it. Don't be scared to play around with the settings and try different things. As for the DVD "YES" get one as I don't think anyone here would be interested in selling theirs. If they are like me I watch it from time to time just incase I missed anything. It all boils down to "More knowledge, More gold"
Cheers Mate and good luck with your new 5000. If you have any questions please just ask.

John, if you get the "The SETA Project" is about the 4500 mostly but I found it more helpful than the unwrapping video.

Re: Another Newbie from the Mid North Coast NSW
Thanks for the welcome.
Wombat. I have been reading everything available both on and off the net. I suppose the question was more or less a crypted question about the DVD. If there were plenty for reesale, is it really worth getting, whereas as you said you are keeping yours so you can review it over time.
Guess I will have to fork out the full amount and get my copy.
Ben, Thanks for that I will look into your suggestion.

Hi Nugnut and welcome to the forum. I found the DVD 'Unwrapping the GPX 5000' helpful when I bought my 5000 as I knew very little. In fact, the dealer thre in a free copy with the detector. I watch it now and again to refresh myself.
