Question about locating Gold :)

This is a question that has probably already been answered before, however I am new to this so. My question is When you are out looking for a spot that may be fruitful, how can you tell or should I say what are common tell tale signs that gold may be in that area. I e. Colour of soil, certain plants etc. Hope someone can answer my question and please don't get too angry if this has already been answered. Greg.
