Quadcopter with GoPro HD attached
This is my new toy I got yesterday, and this is the video from my first flight today. I've had a few quads but this one is better than my others, it's got built in GPS and a few other goodies.
It can go much higher and faster than this but I am just taking it easy to begin with. If only it could spot nuggets

For a first flight, that was well controlled. I was surprised how quickly it could climb. How long can it fly for? What is it's max range from the controller? and how long to recharge? cheers Pete.

Yeah it is awesome, easy to fly, and has heaps of power.
I will get much better at it, today was my first day. I plan on getting some FPV goggles which will make the whole orientation thing much easier and I should be able to shoot much better videos.
Battery lasts about 10 mins with the GoPro attached, haven't flown it without the GoPro attached yet but would be longer than 10 mins. 10 mins doesn't sound like much but you are concentrating so hard that after 10 mins you need a break anyway - so bring it down and swap over the battery.
Max range I think is about 1000ft (300 meters). If you go too far and it goes out of range, it will automatically fly back to the GPS location it took off from, and land itself.
Recharge time seems pretty quick, about 1-2 hours.
If you are interested in the specs, this is it:

I paid $750 ready to fly from a hobby shop in Melbourne but I think you can get them on ebay for about $659 ready to fly. That doesn't include the GoPro camera. I already had one anyway.
It is specifically designed to carry a GoPro though, and it comes with a case for a GoPro although I've been using my waterproof GoPro case.

Re: Quadcopter with GoPro HD attached
Hey Gold Miner
How good is FPV? I've seen most of those videos on youtube already actually, I've watched about 100 over the last few days
Here is a video taken from a DJI Phantom using Fatshark goggles which is what I am getting. Watch in 1080 HD. This guy is clearly on struggle street, checkout the houses!

Re: Quadcopter with GoPro HD attached
Looks good mate!
Does that quad come with GPS fail-safe go home?
If it doesn't I would seriously consider it mate. It's a pretty big thing. Losing quads because they go out of range and fly away is pretty common. You don't want your $1000 rig flying away on you

Have you tried your yet?
There's a video of the naza system in action on you tube... (by a german dude)
I dunno if youre game to try it but fly up to about 500 feet and then turn your controller off!!!

Re: Quadcopter with GoPro HD attached
That Naza thing looks pretty cool! I think it's similar to the one I've been looking at from DJI called the WOOKONG-M
http://www.dji-innovations.com/products/wookong-m/overview/
You can program it to fly to up to 50 different GPS waypoints, you can program the speed, the altitude, the type of turn etc. Looks bloody cool!
