Hi once again......Can anybody advise me how significant James Flett's book on The History of Gold Discovery in Victoria is in the scheme of things for amateur prospecting. I notice that is in excess of 400 pages in length.....without stating the obvious, does the book mainly cover the history and locations of our vic goldfields or does it also cover other aspects of general gold prospecting as well? Any help on this is appreciated before I spend anymore of my hard earned on more books.

Hi malkorm

have read both books you spoke about. just so you know if you are in central vic, go into the local library i,e maryborough, clues, and you get the ladies to get them in for you(try before you bye) when avalibile
but in my mind both are worth haveing when I have the money I will get both

ps fletes book covers all aspect of gold related to vic mainly central vic

thanks for the reply Allan....I will be in Castlemaine today so will go to the Library and make inquiries. It was just that I saw Flett's book on a couple of sites on the internet and was interested on any feedback from members of the forum on this one. The price difference between the copies was about $200. My guess is that these type of books don't come up for sale too often and it whetted my appetite even more for info on our victorian gold history. The fact that you say that it concentrates on the central goldfields only makes this book even more interesting to me. I am a late starter to this caper and now have all the time in the world to play catchup in the research department. Its an interesting journey so far to say the least.
thanks again matey

Morning Cruiser,
A little more information would be handy. eg:
Hard cover or soft?
Year of publication?
Photograph etc?

Sorry guys but Miners Den hasn`t had James Fletts book for many months now. We have asked the publisher to do another print run but so far no joy.
