First go!!
Gday folks,
Well on the weekend, I had my first go at panning up past Mansfield way( where I know there was gold)
Though I went to where the basics tell you and in bedrock etc, and crevices after 7 1/2 hours panning. Not 1 flake! I think I had one but lost it when I got home.
So there fore I need to keep trying, but Im thinking that sluicing is the go.
This is a life long dream for me( prospecting) and with my very limited budget, it may take some time to conquer.
But I guess if ya dont look ya dont find!
P.S It was good to get out just by myself, cook on the fire etc. will going again very soon.

Re: First go!!
Wow there's determination 7.5hrs!!
Sometimes you just don't find anything but keep researching.
TBH until you can pan like a pro there's no need for a sluice as you'll still need to pan what comes out of it.
I only got my sluice as I found a few spots to get 3 specks a pan so sluice in that case will speed life up considerably. Keep looking if you know there's gold there. See if you can find some local info.

Re: First go!!
Sample-Sample-Sample!!
"Guaranteed", if you can drive up to a spot, it will have been frequently worked
Not all bad news though, Flood gold will be in the upper layers?? digging down to bedrock in common areas is more often a waste of time!
Sample the surface layer, 10 inch's deep type of thing, if gold found keep digging and keep sampling, when the gold runs out
Yu dug too deep
