trouble balancing! Empty trouble balancing!

Lately over the past 2 or 3 trips I have had trouble balancing my 5000, I have tried to balance while using a 24 x 12 coiltek coil and also the 11 round commander coil which is normal very easy to balance. I'm not sure if my old boy has played with the setting as he has even less knowledge about it then me about the 5000. But I have a list of settings people use on the coils and I have tried them and still failed to get a good balance. In then tried adjusting the gain and stabilizer still with no luck of reaching a near comfortable balance. So dose anyone have any sudjestions? The lower the stabilizer setting the more the stabilized works right? And the high the gain the more "power" but the more susceptible the machine is to ground noise and interference? Am I right.

G'day Alexfromdarwin the higher gain will make the 5000 more sensitive... I would try setting it to the FP settings and see if it will run quieter... Then if it runs ok you can start adjusting to your preferred settings and see how it runs... Sometimes a higher stabiliser setting is better... You just got to adjust it till you are comfortable with it... I prefer mine to run quiet... Check the audio setting you may have to set it to quiet and see if that helps...

Cheers.

g'day
check on the front to see if it has been put in "normal" timming...
in some ground it's harder to balance in normal with a mono..
(i'm assuming your new to detecting...if not then disregard my post)
cheers

Ok thanks and no the detector was running in special, fine gold timings.

Also could anyone explain to me a little in depth on how the audio setting change the way your detector works?

G'day Alex the audio is like a filter system I am not an electronics expert but there are others on here that may help you... Read up in your manual it may explain it a bit better if in doubt always read and reread the manual...

Cheers.

Mike. cheers
