Just my opinion, if your looking for OFF ROAD look at vans made for the job, if looking for DIRT TRACK VANS there is a difference, if you research the 2 options you will notice and find what you are looking for. Then you can start to look at $$$$$ and things you will really need for what you want to do with van for most of the time .be it 50/50 on road /on dirt or tru off road and dirt . or tar and dirt etc work out your mix, then weight up the options and $$$ and how long you want to keep van etc. Happy Research and good luck.

u have plenty of options there to consider..
make sure u have 2 spares on the van--either a pop top or camper van.
Solar min of 200w on the roof of the van would be good coupled up with 2 deep cycle 150ah batteries.
the list goes on
go around to as many dealers as u can and get a lot of ideas that may suit u and your needs.

good luck and start makin a bloody big list so u can cover most bases.

Philip,

I have a 16ft Bushtracker that's built like a brick outhouse It has two spares, 240 litres of water, a shower and toilet, queen size bed etc etc and it would be well under the $60,000 mark second hand. (Maybe around $40T). It goes anywhere (has been to WA for the last four years and has proved itself on corrugations). I am not trying to sell it !

Why a pop-top, they are more water and dust sealing hassles / problems and less security ? And you can't load up the roof with four heavy solar panels as I have.

Why not look at a 16-18 ft second hand full height off road model van from such makers as Phoenix, Bushtracker and Trakmaster (not Kedron)

There is a lot of manufacturers who just make their van look a bit tough and call it an offroader. These tend to disintegrate on corrugations and fill up with dust.

Jig.
