Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Great story and pictures Dave,
Can you explain more about tektites. We found black marbly stones like in your photo and broke some open with a hammer and was no gold in them. The sound like a good target though when you detect one.

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks for that dave, They looked same on picture but what we were picking up were a sort of ironstone we think. They were magnetic and stuck good to a magnet.
Must keep our eyes peeled for these, its amazing what you do pick up when out swinging. I do not know about others but when I detect I always have eyes glues to ground in concentration looking and listening for those adictive targets.

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Wow thanks Dave, I like the story and your gold.
Especially this pix as your nugget surrounded by black pebbles ( it's similar to black sand ).
Same as the similar size nugget I found over 3,000 kms. away from your patch.
I notice that big nuggets I found always accompanied by big black stuffs like yours. ( but no sunbaked ones )
If the black stuff is small so the size of nugget.

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Great post Dave,
Remember mentioning this to you previously, however:
When we first found some "leaf gold" we thought it was remains of old brass electrical fittings?
Highly mineralised area, the hot rocks were so pure, feel sure you could strike an arc on them?
Our theory was the sheets of gold had been compressed within the iron stone and released when the formations broke down?
Peter

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
We done Dave, nice to see that you and Veronica had a great trip and achieved what you set out to do. It was a very readable post and the pics and videos just make the mouth drool. One thing for sure is that in WA the whole atmosphere is different in enjoying what OZ is all about. I know that it was special to me and to meet like minded people like yourself was great.
Thanks for putting up your story so now look out the the hundreds from the forum who will hiding around the bushes waiting for you to go by. I had a convoy of nine caravans, just magine what you would have. (Just joking) I can now appreciate what you can do on your own without others watching your every move. Glad you enjoyed yourself
Jeff

Wow, I am impressed Dave and Veronica. Glad to see you both had a blast and well done on the tally. Veronica, is that the sunbaker you were talking about when I posted my two pics of sunbakers ? If so, it puts my ones to shame !
Well done.
